We have also been partners with some NGOs that are ALF members like Povod Slovenia.
Mission and Objectives

Mission Statment:
PRISMS aims to empower young people, youth workers, youth leaders and all those interested in their own personal development, with the skills, tools, information and values necessary for personal growth and to be active participants within society.
The objectives of Prisms are the following:
- To Empower young people with the skills, tools, information and values necessary for personal growth and to be active participants within society.

- To  Provide to the necessities of the young people trough informal and non formal methods of education.

- To Create a synergy with other agencies, both national and international, involved in youth work.
-To  Encourage youth work through networking with other stakeholders.

- To Update and communicate with its counterparts and the young people it comes in contact with on a regular basis through a website which is to be created for this purpose and other interactive resources.
-To  Promote activities that might be relevant to youth.

Main Projects / Activities

As written in the general information we have various activities going on all year round. Our youth workers are working on a regular basis with various young people from different areas of Malta and with different backgrounds. We are making use of different local and international funds like Erasmus+ and Europe for citizens

Currently we are implementing two long term projects with the main target group being the young people. These projects are Islanders and Explore More.
Islanders: Project Islanders is a youth project funded by the Erasmus+ programme aimed to help young people gain added confidence in themselves by learning numerous skills in communication, leadership, teamwork, social entrepreneurship, marketing, IT and presentation skills so as to be able to either get back into education or the workforce.
Explore More: This training focuses more on the time when the young people come to choose their future career. We are working closely with schools, Universities and other educational institutions to create a one for all platform that the young people can make use of to get information on their future career.

We are also working to promote volunteering locally by promoting EVS that is European voluntary service.

These are few of the many activities that we are implementing as an organisation.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

We have been active in locally since 2008. We have been working with various people especially youth. Locally we can share our experience with the local ALF partners and work together so as to create a bigger network that can have a bigger input and thus achieve greater results with the Maltese community apart from making the ALF network more known locally.  By this the Maltese will also get to know more about the opportunities that exist in the ALF.

We will be also sharing our experience with the local network so that we have experience sharing to create a learning envoirment for all.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

One of our members took part in one of the training for trainers that was organised by the ALF network in Malta in March 2017. Thanks to this training opportunity he got to know more on the work of the ALF network and how it works. Apart from this our member also brought a good workbook that is full of tools that we are making use of in our various training courses. Furthermore thanks to this training course we have a new list of reliable partners that we could implement projects with. Infact one of the partners from Palestine that was in this training course, is already a partner in one of our projects. Thus we want to join this network to gain from the various experiences and different working tools that the various members in this network have. We also want to get more contact with different partners around the Mediterranean especially from the Middle East and North African coast.

General Information
The Israeli nonprofit, Mehayom: the Israeli Forum for a Healthy Lifestyle is the largest mobilizers for better health and illness, obesity, and diabetes prevention in Israel. Our team includes the Chairman of the National Council for Diabetes, Prof. Itamar Raz, and the previous Secretary of State, Ovad Yechezkel as well as 3 other staff members. We partner with government and communities to implement culturally-specific environments for tens of thousands of Israelis. Our projects include: City Health Culture, Women’s Health in Arab Communities, Diabetes Awareness in the Ethiopian Community, Ultra-Orthodox Awareness and Environments, Workplaces. The Budgetary resource available in a year is 225,000 USD. Our Sponsors & Partners The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in Israel, Women's International Zionist Organization, Novo Nordisk, AstraZeneca Israel, The Israel Diabetes Association, Strauss, Atid - The Association of Dietitians and Nutritionists in Israel, Menta, Yavne Municipality, Eilat Municipality, D-Cure: Advancing Diabetes Care to Cure, Merk and more.
Mission and Objectives

Our Mission
To revolutionize the approach to health and lifestyle nationwide, in every city and for every individual. To raise awareness, improve understanding about lifestyle choices, and implement concrete programs in government, municipal leadership, schools, and workplaces. To use “health-supportive environments” for long-term, cross-cultural change.
Our Objectives

Focus on health in personal and group environments (schools, workplaces, community centers etc.)

Adaptability to specific high-risk populations for a new nationwide approach to health.

Guidance for government and lay leadership for far-reaching and long-term change.

Awareness campaigns about the need to fight the obesity and diabetes epidemics in Israel.

Main Projects / Activities

City Health Culture. We put “healthy lifestyle” on city agendas for the long term. We partner with cities (Ashdod, Nazareth, Rahat, Tel Aviv, and more) to create and fund a new municipal official: city health director. Together, we identify and meet the practical and cultural health needs of the city (jogging paths, water fountains, socioeconomic and language accessibility. Programs in homes, schools, workplaces, parks, and more make healthy living natural. Our initial input transforms the city’s health culture, it precipitates momentum that will impact Israelis far into the future.

Women’s Health in Arab Communities. 50% of Arab and Bedouin women over 60 have diabetes. In 2016, we piloted an educational and health leadership program for 40 women in Rahat and Nazareth. The women joined workshops about health and health leadership, implementing health-supportive environments in homes, schools, and community centers.

Diabetes Awareness in the Ethiopian Community. Many first-generation Ethiopian immigrants (adults, elderly) struggle with Hebrew. They cannot access our mainstream awareness/prevention campaigns. We aim to produce a 4-part television feature on diabetes in Amaharic (Ethiopian language). The feature will air on Israel’s Ethiopian TV channel, and reach thousands of homes.

Ultra-Orthodox Awareness and Environments. Our culture-specific programs create concrete awareness and lifestyle change in the ultra-Orthodox community. Attention to cultural norms (separate programs for men and women, culture-specific communication) has impacted over 1,000 ultra-Orthodox children, teens, and adults to date. With our guidance, mothers and teens now implement health-supportive environments in homes, schools, and community centers.

Workplaces. Awareness and programs in the workplace create health-supportive daytime environments for adults. Long workdays make office health patterns crucial for individual and family health. To date, together with 15 businesses and municipalities (police forces, fire departments) – and with demand for more – we bring lifestyle awareness and improvement to thousands of Israeli adults.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

The prevalence of obesity and diabetes is rising throughout the western world at a rate so high that the World Health Organization officially defines them as epidemics – the only non-viral epidemics. The increase in obesity and diabetes cross socioeconomic, cultural, and age without regard to level of education or financial means. 500,000 Israelis are diagnosed with diabetes. It is estimated that 500,000 more live with the disease, though undiagnosed.
Proper nutrition and an active lifestyle are the healthiest and safest ways to prevent diabetes and obesity, and to reduce redundant, unhealthy weight. Along with attention to risk factors like smoking, people who lead healthy lifestyles benefit from better long-term health, lower stress levels, and a sense of control and fulfillment in daily life, at home, and work.

General Information
In 1999, beside the open grave of his murdered son, Kamel Riyan swore to heal the violence within his community. Only several weeks later, still in the early shock of mourning, he created the Alrafa organization. The Aman Center for a Safe Society (a program of the NGO, Alrafa) is the only nonprofit group that acts against violence in Israeli Arab society. Our grassroots center is constituted by seven staff members and community members who are committed to a better future. Our main projects are Lay-Leadership, Youth Education, Strength in Numbers, Religious Leadership, Rallying Resources. Through these projects, we lead Israeli Arab society towards social responsibility for the crime and extremism in its midst: murder, violence against women, extremist hate crimes, and more. We receive funding from donations, the Ministry of Interior, the Estate Committee, the New Israel Fund and more. Our budgetary resources available in a year is 165,851USD.
Mission and Objectives

Our mission is to case a widespread net – practical tools for democracy and social responsibility – over the factions, leaders, and community members of the Israeli-Arab community. We aim to:

Integrate models for positive social activism.

Dismantle barriers between social factions, local government, and law enforcement.

Emphasize tolerance and moderation in Islamic culture and religion
Objectives: In 2017 we will…

  Facilitate 6 community leadership committees.

50 college students will mentor hundreds of youngsters in seven Arab towns.

Deliver values/anti-violence presentations in 100+ schools, community centers, and       mosques.

Begin the development of a media campaign that includes video clips and internet campaigns.

Main Projects / Activities

Over the past five years we have created cooperative infrastructure among community leadership, “every-day” community members, religious leaders, police forces, schools, and colleges. Our key activities are:

Lay-Leadership. Our successful community leadership model is replicable in every Arab community. The model includes local committees for social change; 15-20 members that unite from their community’s diverse social and rival groups to act for social betterment. Committees lead residents to implement anti-violence programs, cultivate action from municipal and religious leaders, and develop critical collaboration between residents and police departments.

Youth Education. In partnership with Ono College, Arab college students bring anti-violence education into community schools. As volunteer mentors in their home communities, they can speak to the realities of their younger peers. They implement early values education through workshops on tolerance and coexistence for all ages.

Strength in Numbers. We give presentations in Israeli-Arab communities nationwide, for adults and youth. We also unite different communities for joint actions against violence. Neighboring communities combine resources and experience to develop local programs regarding: youth at risk, violence against women, youth crime, clan rivalry and Islamic extremism.

Religious Leadership: We work with local religious leadership to educate about moderation and tolerance in Islam. We encourage leaders to develop the mosque from a place only of prayer to a center that unifies the community for tolerance and positive social values.

Rallying Resources. Arab leaders must realize their potential to drive the movement against violence in their community. Arab Knesset members, religious and social leaders have the ear of their people. Through our guidance, these leaders channel their influence to prevent violence.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

After decades of alienation between Israeli law enforcement and Arab communities, we have brought about partnerships between local community leadership and law enforcement. We bring our strongest youth, young people who have achieved higher education, back to their villages for youth mentorship and education. We train professionals, doctors, lawyers, educators, to recognize, respond to, and support victims of violence. We work with Knesset members and participate in law-making sessions. We are also the media voice for anti-violence in Arab society, vocal in print, radio, television and internet media.

General Information

Palestinian Vision (PalVision, or “Ru’ya”) was created by a group of young Palestinians in 1998. It arose as a response to an urgent need for Palestinian youth to have an outlet through which to express themselves and their desire to build a strong and healthy Palestinian society. The aim was to provide opportunities for young Palestinian leaders to become agents of positive, constructive change within their communities; to give them space, tools, and training they need for their voices to be heard and taken into account. PalVision quickly filled a social vacuum, expanding to a grassroots membership of over 600. Through this broad network and an all-volunteer staff, PalVision operates training workshops and community service programs that build leadership skills, strengthen self-esteem, identity, and community spirit, and provide positive channels for self-expression. Throughout this, there is a particular focus on empowering young women and facilitating dialogue and exchange with international youth. PalVision is emphatically independent of political parties and positions – conceiving, instead, of a democratic future in which Palestinian youth serve as community leaders, working to improve and advance their society. The organization was registered in the Palestinian Ministry of Interior in 2000, under the number OR/153/cu. PalVision is one of the few organizations of its kind that continues to be based in Jerusalem. It does so, despite the considerable political and bureaucratic challenges posed by such a decision, in order to best provide services for young people, in particular, young people from East Jerusalem. It also extends its services to youth across Palestinian cities, villages, and refugee camps.

Mission and Objectives

Our Vision Palestinian youth take collective action toward socioeconomic development. Our Mission Palestinian Vision aims to empower Palestinian youth through national awareness campaigns, leadership opportunities, and the establishment of national youth networks. The goal is to initiate youth-led sustainable development, social equity, and economic viability through volunteerism, social activism, entrepreneurship, lobbying and advocacy, both on a local and national level. Strategic Goals 1. To promote economic entrepreneurship and Corporate Social Responsibility in Jerusalem. 2. To achieve sustainable livelihoods in marginalized areas through local socioeconomic empowerment and development. 3. To preserve the identity, heritage, and ways of life of Palestinian communities.

Main Projects / Activities

Three main programs:  Entrepreneurial Seed to support young entrepreneurs and the social activism of youth in its program areas. It will work within a framework of networking and cooperation with relevant stakeholders, such as private sector representatives, using partnerships and cooperation against a background of Corporate Social Responsibility and governmental entities. The organization will make use of innovative concepts to become a visible and eligible partner for the corporate sector. The aim is to promote aspects of Corporate Social Responsibility towards Palestinian Communities, cooperating closely while implementing educational and social programs and economic entrepreneurship Social Resources to empower youth to play a leading role in eliminating inequalities and social disparities in the Jordan Valley and other program areas. The organization will channel its resources to contribute to the promotion of socioeconomic change, aiming to reduce poverty rates and vulnerability levels for marginalized groups in the region. By building the capacity of, and forming strategic alliances with, youth-led CBOs and other like-minded partners from Civil Society and other sectors, PalVision will ensure the involvement of its beneficiaries to become reliable actors in development processes and in so doing assist them to fulfill their ambitions to find a sustainable perspective in life. Identity Inscription to advocate for the human rights of youth and other relevant groups within Palestinian society. It will support and promote initiatives to preserve cultural heritage and national identity among Palestinians. Campaigns will be conceptualized and implemented to facilitate civic engagement and collective action to promote youth-led community activism in line with national agendas.
