General Information
New Horizons is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting social development and cultural preservation for the local territory and bridging the local population to the constantly changing world outside by means of education and training, information service, and international cooperation. It is founded and run by young professionals who are designing, implementing and evaluating local and international youth projects. New Horizons is dedicated to creating educational concepts that allow participants to develop a self-defined strategy of learning in the framework of non-formal education. New Horizons is currently member of a pan-European network of 7 organizations from 7 European countries. The above activities will take place in different formats such as Training Courses, Info Days, workshops, study visits, youth exchanges, workcamps, symposia, forums, and so forth, with local/regional/national/european partners working in different fields. New Horizons’ members has been working with Erasmus+ and former Youth in Action program for more than 5 years years. For activity implementation the organization also welcomes and receives the support of local volunteers as a way to mobilize available resources, foster community dialogue and consolidate the sense of solidarity in grassroots works. Partners involved are coming from EU and neighbor countries. Contacts Legal Office: Tusa (ME) Operating Office: Palermo (PA) at Magneti Cowork (www.magnetico.work;www.facebook.com/magneticowork).
Mission and Objectives

MISSION
In essence, the founding members aim to construct “new horizons” in the imminent future of the
people and crucially young people in their city of residence.
Based in Tusa, a small ancient town of approximately 3,000 inhabitants in the province of Messina,
Italy, New Horizons takes the initiative to rediscover, revitalize, and relaunch a floundering town
dealing with depopulation, youth unemployment and the shortage of socio-cultural services for the
its remaining residents.
Nevertheless, the founding members recognize and believe in Tusa’s unawakened potential
demonstrated in her diversified territorial features (in possession of both seaside beach and
mountain ranges), and her long-lived cultural heritage. Tusa could be seen as suitable for developing
either traditional or modern economic activities and move forward, under the condition that her
human resources be pooled and sufficiently trained to cope with today’s challenges of a knowledge
economy.
This is the mission that New Horizons will bravely initiate and undertake.

Specifically, the objectives are:
* to prepare young people with necessary skills and competences, thus increase their employability;
* to make the local territory an attractive place to live, work and thrive;
* to develop and implement programs in non-formal education for young people & adults
* to support active citizenship and integration of all people regardless of their social and ethnic
background

Main Projects / Activities

ACTIVITIES
- Project design and implementation
- Research and data collection
- Education, training and job orientation
- Development of local territory
- Public communication and sensitization events for the community

The above activities will take place in different formats such as Training Courses, Info Days,
workshops, study visits, youth exchanges, workcamps, symposia, forums, and so forth, with
local/regional/national/european partners working in different fields.

General Information

The association Kane Ya Makane was created in 2009.Its main office is located in Casablanca and the association deploys its projects in 3 regions of Morocco, Agadir, Marrakech and El Jadida. The beneficiaries of our projects are women and children living in precarious conditions, in the rural areas of Morocco. More information on www.kaneyamakane.com 6 employees work in the main office in Casablanca, and 22 people work on the field. The main donors of the association are: Drosos foundation, The International Cooperation of Monaco, the company Taqa Morocco, Société Générale bank, Eqdom, the company Dari Couspate in addition to some private donors. On 2016, the total of annual subventions received from our donors was 4 183 481 MAD.

Mission and Objectives

Our conviction is that art and culture can contribute in a relevant way to human, educational, social and economic development of women and children living in the rural areas of Morocco. Through appropriate artistic and cultural programs for children, youth and women, we aim to: - Provide a social and economic empowerment for women through the implementation of programs allowing them to develop an income-generating activity; - Participate to the widespread of basic education and its improvement; - Fight against school dropout; - Promote national and international cultural heritage; - Promote art as a mean of expression, creation and development of human and democratic values.

Main Projects / Activities

The first project of the association is called ”Talents de femmes” ( Women Talents in French) and was launched on 2009. By setting up an art program, this project aims to empower a group of women living in the rural area of Agadir in Morocco, to develop and sustain an income-generating activity. The objectives of this program are to stimulate their creativity, to help them be more independent and autonomous, and enhance their role within their communities through their social and economic empowerment, and their artistic production. The association has started its second project, called Tanouir, on January 2011 in favor of more than 2000 kids. This project aims to reduce school dropout and by that, improve the chances of the kids beneficiaries of this project to succeed as adults in a challenging professional environment, via an artistic program deployed in public primary schools located in rural areas in Morocco. The artistic program allows to create an enriching space within the school, where kids can benefit from artistic workshops, and by that, develop their capacity to express themselves, their self-confidence, their critical thinking, their ability of questioning…etc. In fact, Art is used as a tool to educate kids and help them to get more familiar with universal values such as tolerance, peace, respect, nonviolence…etc. Education to some themes like environment, ecology, human rights and civic education is part of the project as well. Finally, the last year of the project is dedicated to cultural diversity, to help kids discover the richness of their own culture, and the diversity of the world. Through these projects, we believe that kids can improve their soft skills, and be better citizens as change makers within their communities, their country and around the world. Until now, our project has benefited to more than 13 500 kids, 30 primary schools, and more than 90 women in 3 regions around Morocco.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

For the youth empowerment program, we’ve designed many pedagogical materials. For the artistic workshops we've organized within the public schools, we’ve developed and expertise on the field of animation and creation of art programs that we’ll be glad to share with other NGOs. Part of the activities of our organization is to organize trainings for teachers of public schools in order to initiating them to different pedagogical approaches. The objective is to encourage them to integrate animation an artistic activities such as singing, storytelling, drawing … in their daily classes in order to achieve their learning objectives. We’d like to share our experience with others NGOs specially the ones working in education or youth empowerment.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

We appreciate the work the ALF is doing to gather actors from the civil society across the Mediterranean region. We would love to expand our network to create synergies with other NGOs in Morocco and abroad.

General Information
Mabat brings together diverse students for transformative encounters over accredited leadership seminars at Israeli academic institutions. Thousands of Mabat alumni help improve an atmosphere of diversity on campuses and build a shared society through community outreach and joint civic-action. College campuses in Israel reflect the country’s societal rifts—even on campuses where diverse students share the same space, they remain segregated along ethnic, religious, and cultural lines. An Israeli non-profit active across various institutions of higher learning since 2008, Mabat fosters multicultural awareness by implementing yearlong experiential leadership courses.  ✓ Mabat currently operates ten dialogue groups on three campuses: Haifa University, Beit Berl College and Azrieli College of Engineering Jerusalem—all of which have diverse student bodies. ✓ Thousands of direct beneficiaries have participated in Mabat offshoot programs to-date. ✓ Over 10 years Mabat has run 88 accredited courses in 7 campuses, building a network of over 1,000 alumni across Israel. All programs are co-funded by the institutions where they run. ✓ Internal and external assessments reveal significant personal change in participants and notable change in the multicultural dialogue on campus and in the entire community.
Mission and Objectives

Our main goals are:
To develop multicultural awareness by counteracting prejudice, racism, and sexism within Israeli society.
To create real personal change based on in-depth, joint experiences between those of different and varied backgrounds
To provide youth with the necessary skills and tools for conflict resolution and coexistence in a multicultural society

Main Projects / Activities

Academic Programs:

Mabat runs yearlong programs at Haifa University, Beit Berl College, and Azrieli College of Engineering Jerusalem, facilitating mixed Arab-Jewish leadership and dialogue groups. Through a sequence of meaningful meetings between participants from diverse social backgrounds, students gain valuable conflict resolution and reconciliation skills and learn to reflect upon personal and mutual experiences. Our activity plan is derived from a range of theoretical models in the field of multicultural education, group facilitation, and experiential learning that involves hands-on workshops including outdoor education, photography, music, and more. Students receive academic credit for their participation in Mabat courses and also work in various volunteer schemes to contribute to their communities.
To date, we have run over 88 groups across Israel, changing the perceptions of more than 1,000 participants. Our in-house and external evaluations have revealed significant personal change in participants and positive influence on fostering multicultural dialogue on both campuses and in the community at large.
At the moment, we are working to expand our work to additional campuses where Mabat programs can be integrated as academic courses, accredited community outreach activities, and training programs for community leadership.
✓ Lasting an entire academic year of weekly meetings, the transformative process takes students from personal reflection to inter-group encounter, coming to fruition with community service.
✓ Rooted in experiential learning, our curriculum includes a range of methodologies such as outdoor education, photography, theatre, and music.
✓ Each class is a microcosm of the diversity of Israel; we ensure an equal number of Arab and Jewish participants and also give voice to the multiplicity of complex identities within each group, i.e. gender, religion, sexual orientation etc.
✓ Facilitated sessions: Our facilitators—one Arab and one Jewish in each class—are trained to handle cultural and linguistic sensitivities.
✓ We turn cultural difference into a resource that leads to creation and joint-action.
Community Outreach Towards Social Change
Mabat is an entrepreneurial project. Our students are driven to take what they have learned out of the classroom and implement on campus and in their communities.
✓ Multicultural Tours: Our students and alumni are trained to run joint tours for Jewish and Arab pupils in Haifa’s multicultural and multireligious neighborhood Ein HaYam.
✓ Mabat students organize multicultural home-concerts in Haifa. Students learn to create space for intercultural encounters, to manage small budgets and to formulate artistic programs.
✓ “Multicultural Festivals” adopted by the university: campus-wide roundtables and discussion groups.
✓ Our model is easily replicable: We run workshops, trainings, and seminars for educators and students where they learn to facilitate groups using the Mabat model. We also run tailored diversity seminars for other groups.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

- Participate in meetings
- Bring Mabat's expertise in running multiculturalism workshops and trainings.
- Participate and contribute to ALF events and programs

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

Mabat’s fields of activity and objectives align closely with the vision of Anna Lindh Foundation to create inclusive societies based on mutual trust and understanding. We are interested meeting partners in Israel and abroad and contribute to knowledge-sharing among colleagues. We look forward to participating in and contributing to Network Meetings and other activities of the Israeli Network in particular and of ALF in general.
