General Information

The GrAFiTi Asbl is a non-profit organization that draws it's members from students and artistically engaged people of the Greater Region and beyond. The focus of our associations structure, as well as our actions lies on the four main cities of Luxembourg, Metz, Trier and Saarbrücken.

The associations budget is comprised in general of project-related fundraising, that covers our projects from our yearly theatre festival to our Erasmus+ project "Play Europe", amongst some other activities like workshops or cultural conferences and meet-ups. There is some small overhead for website and comms that we try to keep as small as possible. The festival as our main endeavour has an average budget of some 40.000€ a year, paid for almost in full by fundraising.

For funding of our projects, we work with the main cultural institutions of the Greater Regions, this being the ministries of culture of Saarland, Rheinland-Pfalz, Luxembourg and Grand-Est, the city network of QuattroPole, several university-related and other cultural funds. Some private sponsors have also funded our projects in the past. Ca. 70% of our budget stem from public funds.

For the last 2 1/2 years, we have undertaken an Erasmus+ Project with 5 partners from all over Europe, comprising 6 project implementations in 5 countries. Our theatre festival meanwhile has been our yearly flag-ship project since 2010. Our next project will be the "TAG Festival - Théâtre d'Automne de GrAFiTi", which is set to take place October 22-25. In the past, there have been other smaller ventures, like the organization of a cultural conference with FairTrade groups, several workshops revolving around theatre, as well as travels to our partners from all over Europe, such as Cambridge, Crakow, Córdoba, Marseille and others.

Perhaps our most important parnter in realizing our projects and our mission is the QuattroPole e.V. city network of Luxembourg, Metz, Trier and Saarbrücken. The ministries of culture of the Greater Region have also contributed in the shape of the Espace culturel de la Grande Region. Since our festival switches location between the above mentioned four cities each year, there are numerous changing partners on a regional and local level.

Mission and Objectives

The GrAFiTi Asbl has as it's mission the cultural exchange of young people, especially students across national borders, mainly in the Greater Region of Germany, France and Luxembourg. Through various cultural and artistic format, mainly a yearly international festival of theatre, we aim to connect students from the Greater Region and Europe with one another and give them a represenatitive platform to express themselves and their European identity on stage or in other artistic ways. The main edition in pursuit of this mission is our yearly festival of student theatre.

The GrAFiTi festival is a student initiative and considers itself a participatory forum for students‘ cultural expression at the universities of the Greater Region. The annual festival is organised cross-border in alternation and offers student ensembles a representative stage. GrAFiTi’s goal is to enhance the dialogue and exchange in this unique cultural space and to promote european citizenship in a playful manner.

Main Projects / Activities

- GrAFiTi - student theatre festival of the Greater Region (annually since 2010, in Metz, Trier, Luxembourg and Saarbrücken)
- "Play Europe" - Erasmus+ project in association with the European Union and 5 partners from different European cities (Luxembourg, Saarbrücken, Marseille, Córdoba, Crakow), set to end in early 2021

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

Everyone working for and with GrAFiTi and our projects shares a love for connecting in some way, shape or form, with other people from different countries and cultural backgrounds. We have a well-established network of contact between students and young people, that exceeds even the Greater Region. Our efforts of organizing cultural and theatrical projects in Luxembourg and the Greater Region brings many young people to Luxembourg and other parts of the region. We thus encourage getting to know other countries, that are often right around the corner, we promote the learning and understanding of different cultural, countries and languages, and we provide some experience and knowledge in the frame-work of theatre, arts and culture, as well as the managing of related projects.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

We feel that broadening our horizon, seeking and maintaining contact with organizations and people who share our values and our goals can only help us in our mission. We hope to mutually benefit from the connection to the ALF Network and its protagonists, visitors and projects.

General Information

CVEK is an independent NGO dedicated to research, advocacy and educational activities in the area of human rights, minority rights, migration and interethnic relations. The organisation is currently composed of three senior research fellows, one junior research fellow, a director and a financial manager. Sources of funding vary annually but usually include EU funds (CVEK is national focal point for EU Agency for Fundamental Rights) and funds from various foundations (e.g. Open Society Foundation, so called Norwegian grants). We usually cooperate with other NGOs with similar focus but also with municipalities across the country. Our cooperation with municipalities is usually aimed at their capacity building with respect to intercultural skills and communication and inclusive policy making (e.g. project BUK http://cvek.sk/integration-of-migrants-on-the-local-level-capacity-building-of-local-actors/ and project KapaCity http://cvek.sk/kapacity-podpora-integracie-cudzincov-na-lokalnej-urovni/).

Mission and Objectives

Our common mission is to make a systematic effort aimed at creating an environment in which every person has every right to feel like a valuable and respected human being. Our work is rooted in defending fundamental human rights principles such as respecting dignity of every person and promoting diversity of society. The activities of CVEK focus particularly on ethnic, language and religious minorities. We specialise in promoting inclusion of marginalised population groups, be it the Roma, migrants or other minorities. Thematically, we place emphasis especially on education, housing, social status, interethnic relations and political participation. Our activities may be divided into three basic pillars: research, advocacy and education.

Main Projects / Activities

Our main activities include research. We explore the situation of individuals and population groups that are unable to participate fully in society’s everyday life and examine various public policies and practical measures that are likely to affect their lives. We also analyse the public opinion and the political discourse as we are keen on bringing down the barriers that hinder development of a truly inclusive society. At the same time, our surveys give voice to marginalised population groups and communicate their needs to the powers that be. The findings from our surveys are subsequently used to analyse public policies and formulate recommendations for policy-makers. Through releasing expert publications and media outputs, commenting on proposed or adopted legislation and taking part in various task forces we strive to advocate the measures that respect human rights and eliminate social disparities. We are well aware that criticism alone is not enough, which is why most of our projects focus on developing cooperation with decision-makers in practical implementation of public policies. We cooperate with municipal authorities, central state administration bodies, schools and other public institutions, preparing educational activities, providing consultation and supplying inside information to them.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

We believe that the Network in our country could benefit from our expertise in intercultural communication and our research expertise as well as findings.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

ALF Network provides a unique opportunity to explore new possibilities of expanding and sharing our expertise in intercultural communication. Building partnerships is one of our main ways of work and having an opportunity to create new cooperations with international partners with whom we can exchange knowledge and practice is a strong motivator for us to join the network.

General Information

Our original organization (Business Bridge) was founded 10 years ago in Belgium with 1 mission: creating equal opportunities for women in business. We did that through educational pillars, national networking events and seminars.
We have a strong team of a few volunteers, 5 freelancers, 2 full-time people involved.

This year we opened a new branch in our organization, European Women Association, an NGO, to broaden our international relationships through yearly conferences and online training and networking.
Our partners are strong global organisations supporting our mission:
World Trade Center Antwerpen: https://wtcantwerp.be/content/
WE-gate Europe: https://wegate.eu/
WORLD BUSINESS ANGELS INVESTMENT FORUM:https://www.wbaforum.org/
Diplomatic World: http://diplomatic-world.com
Angels Nest: https://angelsnest.lat/anef/bootcamp-crowdfunding
WinTrade Global: https://wintradeglobal.com/

For this project, our main source of income are membership fees and sponsorship in natura (location, advertising)
For the international conferences, we can count on the support of Facebook, Deloitte and Mastercard (UK)

Mission and Objectives

Our mission is to work on the equality of women in business and beyond.
We support women with relevant networks, mentorships and connection to funding.
We also believe in the importance of education of young women, as they are creating the new normal for the generations that come.

Main Projects / Activities

Women empowerment activities
Promotion of the development projects
Mentoring programs
Yearly international conferences
Education on how to scale for women in business

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

Our European network has grown internationally in the last 10 years of our activities. And we are open to sharing our contacts.
We can support with mentoring, as we have the practical experience in the educational projects.
And of course, we are ready to share our knowledge on starting and growing your business.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

We would like to become a member of the ALF as our organisation is interested in the creation of the women based Network with the maximum coverage of the world, for the moment we are quite strong in the countries of the European Union and would like to go further in our Euro-Med cooperation. The partnership that we are going to develop with the ALF Networks in Meda countries aimed to provide good-quality training and learning opportunities for youth women active in Euro-Mediterranean co-operation, based on intercultural learning and participation of women, and human rights education. We believe that one of the overarching concerns of Euro-Mediterranean co-operation is not to create new, artificial borders, but instead to recognise the many liquid borders and interconnections between all our countries and women of those countries.
