Mission and Objectives

In accordance with the charter of the International Youth Hostel Federation, the Israeli Youth Hostel Association (IYHA) is committed to provide accommodation to all persons without distinctions of race, nationality, colour, religion, sex, class or political options.

General Information

The Galway One World Centre (GOWC) is a Development Education Centre based in the West of Ireland. It is governed by a board of directors which is elected by the membership every year at the Annual General Meeting. Currently the GOWC employs three part-time staff and has an annual budget of approx €100,000. Main funder on an annual basis is Irish Aid through their development education funding scheme, with other NGOs and consultancies. Ongoing projects include training of teachers in conjunction with the School of Education at NUI Galway as well as in-service training, public seminars, training workshops and events on a variety of issues, Galway African Film Festival, and training of youth & community workers (for full details, annual reports etc. visit www.galwayowc.org). Most projects are carried out in partnership with other organisations including Huston School of Film & Digital Media, YouthWork Ireland and other organisations as appropriate.

Mission and Objectives

GOWC’s mission is to create educational opportunities in Galway that develop a critical analysis of the unequal power relationships that historically and currently exist between diverse groups, both locally and globally. GOWC’s aim is to empower people through education, direct action, networking, outreach and provision of resources to create a world where all people have equality of rights, opportunities and respect. GOWC’s definition of development education is “a participatory, empowering and stimulating process that aims to expand the analysis of power, justice and equality that operates at both the local and global levels to challenge injustice and inspire solidarity actions”.

Main Projects / Activities

The GOWC carries out training of educators, youth and community workers as well as working directly with students, youth and community groups and the general public to provide in depth and up to date information on global development issues through workshops and resources in our centre.

by providing global and anti-racism perspectives by offering links to other development education organisations through our membership of IDEA and Dochas

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

A lot of our work includes anti-racism and interculturalism (we consider this an essential component in global solidarity work). We also run an annual African Film Festival aiming to bring African perspectives to an Irish Audience. The Festival has showcased a number of current films from Northern Africa and we would like to build on this by inviting directors and actors from that region to talk about democracy and diversity in their respective countries.

General Information
The Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS) is an independent, non-profit research institute in Vienna (Austria). It brings together high-level expertise from various disciplines (economics, sociology, and political science, among others) to address fundamental economic and social problems and policy choices. Internationally renowned scientists stay at the Institute as guest researchers, and PhD candidates use its excellent facilities to conduct their studies. IHS alumni make career in academia, governmental institutions, and in the private sector. The IHS was incepted in 1963 under the auspices of two esteemed scholars, Paul F. Lazarsfeld and Oskar Morgenstern with a generous grant from the Ford Foundation. Today, the Institute is funded by the Austrian government, by various public organizations and by commissioned research. IHS has coordinated and participated in numerous projects within the EU Framework Programs and has extensive experience in disseminating research results. Currently the Institute counts approximately 100 employees.

The main idea of the project is create an independent, free and young media channel, broadcast the spirit of Alexandria as well.

Notre association dénommée MED-ACTION pour la Jeunesse et la Citoyenneté d’Akbou a été créée le 20 Août 2008 par une équipe composée de journalistes, d’éducateurs et de militants du mouvement associatif de jeunesse désirant agir ensemble et conjuguer leurs efforts dans un cadre collégial afin d’atteindre des objectifs éducatifs déterminés collectivement. Régie par la loi N° 90/31, l’Association MED-ACTION à pour champs d’action géographique la wilaya de Bejaia ; elle est ouverte aux idées novatrices, aux évolutions de la société et en particulier ce qui concerne les questions de jeunesse et de citoyenneté. Nous œuvrons assidûment pour le dialogue et les rapprochements interculturels pour une meilleure connaissance de l’autre et percevons les différences et les diversités comme une richesse et une source d’évolution, de progrès et d’épanouissement des individus et des sociétés. C’est dans ce sens que notre Association veut participer et contribuer à la construction de l’Union Pour la Méditerranée en portant le nom de MEDITERRANEE-ACTION, par contraction MED-ACTION. Sur le terrain, MED-ACTION privilégie une action de proximité sur les lieux de vie de la jeunesse (quartiers, villages, cités…) et ce, pour une meilleure prise en charge de ses aspirations fondamentales, gage essentiel de l’expression réelle d’une citoyenneté agissante, participative. A cet effet, MED-ACTION se définie comme un espace de citoyenneté, de dialogue, et d’échanges inter associations au niveau local, national et méditerranéen pour la réalisation de projets communs. Il reste néanmoins, utile de stigmatiser les difficultés liées au financement de bons nombres de ces projets. En outre, nous avons conscience que pour symboliser cette main tendue aux franges juvéniles défavorisées, nous avons besoin d’appuis pour développer, consolider et renforcer nos capacités individuelles et collectives. A cet égard, l’instauration et la consolidation de passerelles participatives durables de dialogue, de communication, et de concertation entre les partenaires associatifs des deux rives méditerranéennes est plus que jamais d’actualité ! Mission and Objectives

L’association MED-ACTION encourage la compréhension interculturelle et le respect mutuel à travers le dialogue en construisant des capacités et méthodes pour promouvoir la culture de la paix. Nous travaillons aussi pour enrichir l’apprentissage de la dimension interculturel à travers le partage des expériences entre partenaire travaillant dans des domaines similaires. Nous œuvrons pour une coopération réelle pour la mise en place de projets durable qui auront à instaurer la culture de la paix dans le bassin méditerranéen. Ces objectifs peuvent se concrétiser réellement par la mise en place d’un réseau de contact entre les pays d’Europe et ceux du sud méditerranéen, l’augmentation de la compréhension et de l’appréciation de la culture euro-méditerranéenne, la création des projets et d’initiatives liées à la paix et la résolution des conflits et la valorisation de compétences pour un engagement meilleur dans la coopération Euro-méditerranéen.

Main Projects / Activities

PROGRAMME I) Axe Information, Communication et Ecoute des Jeunes (Info jeunes): 1/ Création et aménagement d’un point d’information de jeunes au niveau du centre-ville d’Akbou : insertion socioprofessionnelle, tourisme de jeunes, arts et culture, sports, fléaux sociaux. 2/ Organisation des journées d’information sur la création d’entreprises en partenariat avec l’ANSEJ, ANEM, les banques etc.… : micros entreprises. 3/ Organisation des journées d’information sur la formation professionnelle en collaboration avec la Direction de la formation Professionnelle, les CFPA, APC …) : filières, formations résidentielles, apprentissage. 4/ Création d’une cellule d’écoute et de soutien psychologique en direction des jeunes en difficulté et détresse morale (complexes, échecs scolaires, conflits, troubles émotifs…) au niveau de la Maison de Jeunes d’Akbou. 5/ Organisation de journées d’information et de sensibilisation sur la toxicomanie en collaboration avec l’Office National de la Lutte contre la Toxicomanie : tabagisme, alcoolisme, sida, fléaux sociaux. II) Axe Loisirs Scientifiques, Culturels et Artistiques (Club de jeunes) : 1/ Création d’un conservatoire de musique au niveau de la Commune d’Akbou. 2/ Création d’une école d’initiation à la musique et d’une chorale au niveau de la Maison de Jeunes d’Akbou (pour les moins de 18ans). 3/ Création d’une troupe de théâtre amateur. 4/ Création d’une école d’arts plastiques : dessin et peinture. 5/ Acquisition d’équipements pédagogiques et mobiliers nécessaires à l’ouverture et au fonctionnement d’un centre de loisirs des jeunes (C-L-J) au niveau du centre-ville d’Akbou (bibliothèque communale) comprenant une médiathèque, vidéothèque, multimédias, bibliothèque et point d’information de jeunes. 6/ Aménagement et équipement d’un Cercle de Loisirs pour jeunes au niveau du quartier de l’ex-caserne à Akbou. 7/ Aménagement et équipement d’un Cercle de Loisirs de jeunes au niveau de la cité du stade à Akbou. 8/ Création d’un club de jeunes reporters : réalisation de monographies, étude du milieu, documentaires filmiques, vidéo, montages photographiques, couverture audiovisuelle des évènements socioculturels etc. 9/ Organisation de Journées Cinématographiques Algériennes avec la collaboration de la Cinémathèque Algérienne du 25/10 au 1er Novembre 2010. III) Espace Citoyenneté (Club Jeune Citoyen ) : • Dans le cadre de la promotion d’une citoyenneté participative et agissante, nous préconisons la commémoration des journées et fêtes nationales et internationales reconnues : 05 juillet, 20 août, 01 novembre, 18 Février, 19 mai, 17 octobre, 1er décembre, 01 juin. • Création d’un club archéologique mettant en valeur le patrimoine historique et les vestiges locaux qui devrait déboucher à terme sur l’ouverture d’un musée d’archéologie. • Organisation d’un Forum mensuel sur des thèmes liés à la citoyenneté. L’opération est intitulée : « Forum Citoyen de la Soummam. • Organisation du Forum National de la Soummam sur le jeune citoyen et l’histoire, regroupant des jeunes des clubs citoyens de toutes les Wilayas au niveau national, ateliers thématiques, conférences, débats ...etc. Cette opération se déroulera du 28/10/2010 au 02/11/2010, et ce , à l’occasion de la célébration du 1er Novembre. IV) Echanges et Mobilité des jeunes : 1/ Organisation du festival de l’enfance du 1er au 06 juillet. 2/ Organisation d’un échange de jeunes avec les Wilayas du sud (Ghardaïa, Ouargla, El Oued) sous forme de session de connaissance de l’Algérie. 3/ Organisation d’un centre de vacances pour les enfants de l’émigration (Juillet –Août) en partenariat avec le MJS, le Ministère de la Solidarité, la Wilaya de Bejaia, la DJS etc… 4/ Organisation du Carrefour Méditerranéen de la Jeunesse dans le cadre du dialogue des cultures du 10 au 20 Août 2010. General Information
NGO Initiative is reestablished last month. In this moment we have three members on a voluntary base. We want to promote goals of our organization and look for other organizations, people and partners who help us to accomplish benefit to Montenegrin community as a society of active and aware citizens, who are developing with European trends.
Mission and Objectives

NGO „Iniciative“ is involved in improving quality of living and standard of Montenegrin citizens in different kind of senses: professional, intelectual, social, economical, cultural, scentific and educational sense.

Main Projects / Activities

We are planning to accomplish our goals trough:
1. Improvement of general and specializes level of knowledge and business skills trough different kinds of training, research and analyses
2. Professional affirmation of young people and women
3. Promotion of Montenegrin natural heritage and beauty and speed up development in accordance with ecological standards
4. Promotion of science, art and culture of living
5. Enhance the culture offer of Montenegrin cities and create terms for practicing different attractive and interesting hobbies
6. Making connections and cooperation with organizations from Montenegro and abroad
7. Promotion of regional experience and European practice
