General Information
Welfare Association (WA) is a not-for-profit organization established in Geneva-Switzerland, in 1983 by Palestinian and Arab business and intellectual figures to support sustainable development and provide humanitarian relief to Palestinian people in its areas of operations. It is an independent development organization without political, partisan or factional affiliation. WA partners with hundreds of Palestinian non government organizations in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, the Gaza Strip, 1948 areas, and the Palestinian communities in Lebanon. The WA’s General Assembly has close to 150 Arab and Palestinian members representing the business and intellectual elite not only in Palestine and but across the Arab region. WA also has a staff close to 100 professionals responsible for implementing programs and projects with offices spanning all its areas of operations. It was registered in Palestine in 2006. The WA has built an Endowment Fund of $60 million through earmarked donations from members and the community. WA relies on drawing on investment earnings from its endowment in addition to grants from individuals, institutions, foundations, bilateral and multilateral donors in the Arab region, Europe and USA. Its annual program expenditure is close to $30million.
Mission and Objectives

WA envisions the Palestinian people as citizens of an independent, free, and democratic Arab Palestine, living in dignity, prosperity, and self-fulfilment, with equitable access to opportunities to realize their full potential with distinction and creativity.
WA strives to make a distinguished contribution toward furthering the progress of the Palestinians, preserving their heritage and identity, supporting their living culture and building civil society. It aims to achieve these goals by methodically identifying the Palestinian people’s needs and priorities and establishing the soundest mechanisms to maximize the benefits from the available funding resources.
WA objectives:
* Encourage the preservation of Palestinian culture and identity and the revival of Palestinian cultural heritage.
* Develop, upgrade and empower Palestinian individuals to become productive, professional and capable of achieving their goals and aspirations and to contribute to economic and social change.
* Empower local institutions and assist them in providing services that respond to the needs of Palestinians by employing the requirements of good governance and achieving sustainability.
* Provide rapid and effective response to any emergency situation that may put the life, security or health of Palestinians at risk.

Main Projects / Activities

Working Sectors and Programs:
In its strategic plan 2011-2013; WA identified four main sectors of intervention: education, culture, community development, and emergency and humanitarian assistance. It adopts a set of development and relief programs and interventions that respond to community needs in all WA fields of operation.
These programs are envisaged to be comprehensive and sustainable in order to expand their impact both vertically and horizontally.
Within this context, the plan gives priority to integrated and comprehensive programs, in addition to a number of individual programs that allow a space for adopting new initiatives or responding to area-specific needs.
The program packaging concept does not apply to the emergency and humanitarian assistance sector as it adopts varied intervention mechanisms based on emergency and humanitarian assistance needs.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

It has a wide network of partners locally in West Bank and Gaza Strip, which enables it to be ready for implementation and overseeing of activities with no delay in quality systematic means. This strength can play a key role in supporting/overseeing/partnering future AFL projects within the network of 230 current members, whom some are already current partners with WA.

General Information
The Bydgoszcz Philharmonic ranks among the leading musical institutions in the country. It has two permanent artistic groups. One is established in 1946. Its traditions date back even further, to the interwar period, to City Symphonic Orchestra which exist at that time. The other group is Capella Bydgostiensis established in 1962, one of the first groups in Poland to present ancient music using instruments of the period and their replicas. The output of both musical groups in the Pomeranian Philharmonic includes numerous album recordings and foreign tours. Moreover, composers write music especially for them, since both Ignacy Jan Paderewski State Philharmonic Orchestra and Capella Bydgostiensis take part in world premieres of the works of such eminent musicians as Górecki, Kilar, Schaeffer, Twardowski or Penherski. November 16th 1958 is an extremely important date in the more than 50-year-long history of the Pomeranian Philharmonic – when the first concert took place in its newly erected, exceptionally stately edifice. The building, raised through admirable efforts of the Philharmonic’s late long-standing director Andrzej Szwalbe, has an 880-seat concert hall with superb, world-famous acoustics, a 150-seat chamber music hall, and 170-seat concert foyer. It’s 47-pipe mechanical organ, built by the Rieger-Kloss company from Krnov (Czech Republic) is installed in the back of the concert hall stage, spacious enough to hold a grand orchestra and a choir. Eleonora Harendarska has been general and artistic manager of the Ignacy Jan Paderewski State Philharmonic since 1991. The Philharmonic is managed jointly by the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship and the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.
Mission and Objectives

The artistic activities of the Pomeranian Philharmonic include symphonic and chamber concerts as well as recitals of greatest virtuosos from all over the world. Since 1958 the Philharmonic has also been engaged in extensive educational projects involving children and youth.
Around 1000 programs and concerts aimed at developing the love of music are organized each year for 300 thousand young listeners.

Main Projects / Activities

Two festivals, organized since 1963 Bydgoszcz Music Festivals and Internationals Festivals Musica Antiqua Europae Orientalis (organized since 1966 on a tri-annual basis), together with musicological and Slavonic congresses are especially prominent among the artistic activities of the Pomeranian Philharmonic.
The MAEO festival plays an important cultural role; it provides an exceptionally valuable platform for exchanging ideas for scholars and artists of East and West. The musicological and Slavonic congresses gather representatives of more than 50 thriving world university centres spread between Washington and Moscow. The aim of both the Congress and Festival is to find the common cultural roots of the Old Continent.
The MAEO Festival of Ancient Music of the East is a truly unique phenomenon in the world in terms of the wide scope of works in presents: the compositions originate from countries of Central and Eastern Europe and Byzantium. Many large-scale artistic events, featuring both the permanent groups and visiting artists, took place in the more than 50-year-long history of the Pomeranian Philharmonic.

ISTV co-operates with various news and content outlets to widen its' contents exposure.

As an alternative media source aiming to portray reality from a human point of view, we are busy with our Israeli-Palestinian parts of an inseparable greater puzzle, but realize the importance of the Mediterranean context.
New contents, perspectives and partners are essential for our everyday work, and we hope we find new means of contribution and co-operation with The ALF and ALF Network members, promoting ideas we all share.

Mission and Objectives

The idea of the Foundation was born in 2007 with the start of the Afryka.org website. While running the first Polish internet service about Africa we realized the great opportunities given by the Web for increased knowledge sharing and communication.
We soon realized however that there is more to life then just internet. That is why the Foundation ‘Africa Another Way’ was founded. We also promote and initiate cultural events and support academic groups, associations and other non‐governmental organizations. We work on projects concerning development aid and education and give advice to potential investors in Africa.
Our activity extends outside Poland. Poles no longer need to go to Africa to meet its people. Africans live in Europe – and in Poland.
