"Un accordo tra l'università di Napoli e 11 tra le più importanti università del Mediterraneo e del Medio Oriente che punta allo scambio di docenti e studenti in tutte le aree accademiche". Così Gaetano Manfredi, rettore dell'Università Federico II di Napoli descrive la creazione del Muna, Mediterranean and Middle East University Network Agreement, sancito a Napoli al termine della due giorni di lavori organizzati dall'ateneo federiciano.
L'evento, di grande rilievo internazionale, nasce dall'esigenza di dare una sistemazione formale e organica ai tanti scambi di docenti, ricercatori e studenti già in atto tra l'ateneo partenopeo e le università del nord Africa, del Medio Oriente e dei Balcani. La nascita delle rete di atenei è sancita dalla presenza a Napoli di rettori e delegati delle Università di Mohammed V di Rabat e Moulay Ismail di Meknés, Hassan II di Casablanca (Marocco), Monastir (Tunisia), Pharos di Alexandria (Egitto), Saint Joseph di Beirut (Libano), Albanian University di Tirana (Albania), Nouakchott (Mauritania), Badji Mokhtar di Annaba (Algeria), Cairo University del Cairo (Egitto), Libanese University (Libano).

L'Università Pontificia Salesiana è stata promossa dalla Società Salesiana di S. Giovanni Bosco e canonicamente eretta presso di essa dalla Sacra Congregazione dei Seminari e delle Università degli Studi (ora Congregazione per l'Educazione Cattolica) con Decreto del 3 maggio 1940 (Prot. N. 265/40) con il titolo «Pontificio Ateneo Salesiano».
Del nuovo titolo «Pontificia Studiorum Universitas Salesiana» (Università Pontificia Salesiana) l'Ateneo è stato decorato da S.S. Paolo VI con il Motu Proprio Magisterium vitae del 24 maggio 1973.
È costituita dalle seguenti Facoltà:
1. Facoltà di Teologia.
2. Facoltà di Scienze dell'Educazione.
3. Facoltà di Filosofia.
4. Facoltà di Diritto Canonico.
5. Facoltà di Lettere Cristiane e Classiche
6. Facoltà di Scienze della Comunicazione sociale.
Dall'8 dicembre 1986 è costituito tra la Facoltà di Teologia e la Facoltà di Scienze dell'Educazione un Dipartimento che attua il «Curricolo di Pastorale giovanile e Catechetica».
Con decreto della Congregazione per l'Educazione Cattolica (Prot. N. 1258/85/8) in data 29 giugno 1986, è stato eretto l'Istituto Superiore di Scienze Religiose, in seno alla Facoltà di Teologia.
L'Università Pontificia Salesiana è membro ordinario della FIUC - Fédération Internationale des Universités Catholiques, della FUCE - Fédération des Universités Catholiques Européennes e della EUA - Association Européenne de l'Université.
Siamo un'istituzione a servizio della società, della Chiesa e della Società di San Francesco di Sales, che si propone come scopo caratterizzante di dedicare particolare attenzione allo studio e alla soluzione delle questioni inerenti l'educazione e l'azione pastorale specialmente tra i giovani e i ceti popolari, secondo lo spirito di Don Bosco.

La storia de “Il mio pezzetto di sole” e’ cominciata nel 2009 ed è stata per due anni la storia di Roberto, volontario italiano, e di Ando, assistente sociale malgascio. Ora è diventata la storia di Roberto e Luisa in Italia. E di Ando e Raissa in Madagascar. E della loro Casa famiglia Bartolomeo Garelli. Una storia d’amore e di amicizia. Tra uomini e donne, tra mondi diversi, tra adulti e bambini.
Quattro anni fa i due amici, passeggiando la sera nel mercato del paese, vicino ad Antanarivo, videro tanti bambini abbandonati, con pochi stracci addosso, sporchi ed affamati. Roberto decide di offrire ad Ando i soldi per prendere una casa in affitto e l’assistente sociale, dopo averne individuata una adatta, va a parlare con i bambini incontrati al mercato, per conoscerli e per proporre loro l’opportunità della Casa. Questi ragazzi vivevano in mezzo all’immondizia e trascorrevano la notte sotto banchi malmessi del mercato, sia durante la stagione calda che durante quella delle piogge. La loro età era tra i 13 e i 16 anni, avevano tutti sofferto di difficili situazioni familiari, erano malvestiti e malnutriti; uno di loro, Mbola, all’età di 15 anni pesava 25 chili. Oggi i ragazzi sono 16, vivono tutti insieme all’assistente sociale, che nel frattempo si è sposato con Raissa, all’interno di una serena realtà familiare; ognuno di loro e’ protagonista di un proprio progetto educativo e può perfino permettersi di fare sogni per il proprio futuro.
In Italia si è sposato anche Roberto. Con Luisa. Durante l’estate vanno in Madagascar, nella Casa Famiglia anche loro, ne condividono i ritmi, le gioie, gli impegni, i disagi. Sul posto acquistano prodotti dagli artigiani locali, selezionando quelli più bravi e bisognosi di aiuto; prodotti che rivendono in Italia, per raccogliere fondi e mandare avanti l’iniziativa con la collaborazione dell’Associazione e dei volontari malgasci che si sono uniti ad Ando e Raissa.
Tutti operano secondo le proprie possibilità: i volontari malgasci mettendo a disposizione il loro tempo e le loro capacità genitoriali, e gli italiani vivendo con loro in Casa Famiglia un periodo dell’anno e impegnandosi a sostenere economicamente il progetto attraverso iniziative di sensibilizzazione.

During 2016 we have developed some activities such us: workshops to enhance intercultural issues in all interactions; a series of webinars  focused on Migration and Refugees issues, a course on Mediation, Arbitration and Interculturality.

The first project of the association is called ”Talents de femmes” ( Women‘Talents in French) and was launched on 2009. By setting up an art program, this project aims to empower a group of women living in the rural area of Agadir in Morocco, to develop and sustain an income-generating activity.
The objectives of this program are to stimulate their creativity, to help them be more independent and autonomous, and enhance their role within their communities through their social and economic empowerment, and their artistic production.
The association has started its second project on January 2011 in favor of more than 2000 kids. This project aims to reduce school dropout and by that, improve the chances of the kids beneficiaries of this project to succeed as adults in a challenging professional environment, via an artistic program deployed in public primary schools located in rural areas in Morocco.
The artistic program allows to create an enriching space within the school, where kids can benefit from artistic workshops, and by that, develop their capacity to express themselves, their self-confidence, their critical thinking, their ability of questioning…etc.
In fact, Art is used as a tool to educate kids and help them to get more familiar with universal values such as tolerance, peace, respect, nonviolence…etc.
Education to some themes like environment, ecology, human rights and civic education is part of the project as well.
Finally, the last year of the project is dedicated to cultural diversity, to help kids discover the richness of their own culture, and the diversity of the world.
Through these projects, we believe that kids can improve their soft skills, and be better citizens as change makers within their communities, their country and around the world.
To date, our project has benefited to more than 4 000 kids, 30 primary schools, and more than 90 women in 3 regions around Morocco.

2016 main project:
1. The WELCOMMON project is about the creation of a community center in Athens which aims to support refugees in matters of housing, empowerment and integration. WELCOMMON has been granted from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the Athens Development and Destination Management Agency (ADDMA) of the City of Athens.
The community center will be based on refugees’ active participation, social innovation and social entrepreneurship and will operate under two pillars:
 Emergency relief (e.g. housing, meals, medical care)
 Empowerment and social integration through:
• capacity building (e.g. language learning, intercultural-environmental training),
• employment opportunities (e.g. catering, cleaning services, clothes production, culture),
• engagement with social entrepreneurship,
• cooperation with the local population (e.g. employment at the hostel for unemployed Greeks, activities-events open to local population, low cost social market).
2. Social Entrepreneurship Forum 2016. Anemos Ananeosis and Heinrich Böll Stiftung GR, in cooperation with other partners (e.g. Association of Cooperative Banks of Greece, Ecological Recycling Society, Impact Hub Athens etc.) are cooperating in yearly basis for the organisation of Social Entrepreneurship Forum. Its main purpose is the contribution to mobilizing for social change in Greece, the illustration of the role of social and solidarity economy to the development of local economy, the dissemination of good practices in Europe and Greece, the creation of new tools for further development of the sector of social economy, the facilitation and acceleration of the start, financing and sustainable development of social enterprises. Social Entrepreneurship Forum 2015 (SEF) boosted the dynamic of last year’s organisation and contributed in promoting the Forum as a considerable institution of dialogue, information and networking with regard to social entrepreneurship. Critical milestones such as the draft and adoption of a Code of Conduct for social enterprises, the upgrade of the social entrepreneurship forum website into a common online platform that will provide accurate and timely information on social enterprises and innovative tools for the communication of community members ac-cording to their needs, have been set and agreed upon in the Forums’ Declaration.
3. Energy poverty and green policies. Anemos Ananeosis and Heinrich Böll Stiftung GR have jointly worked to prepare a policy report on addressing energy poverty in Greece through green social innovation. In this context, 2 workshops have been organised in order to exchange views and good practices with experts from Greece and abroad.

A New Dawn in the Negev's programs include:
• After School English Program: Volunteers from around the world join the Bedouin High School students of Alnajak High School once a week in the new English center to bring fun and educational enrichment programs to the at risk population. This program is of huge benefit to the participants: it is not only a means to achieving better test results in English, but also serves as a holistic approach to cultural exchange and reflection.
• Bedouin Digital Culture Center: A digital initiative funded by the UK Trusthouse Foundation. The goal of this project is to explore the transition of Bedouin society from a traditional semi-nomadic way of life into the 21st century. This project is also designed to be a practical project through which students can learn documentary skills and video editing with the hope of integrating this program as a component to the After-School English Enrichment Program.
• Sarab: Strings of Change: Sarab (“Oasis” in Arabic) strives to change the bleak social reality of the Bedouins of the Negev by providing quality music education, starting with children in elementary schools. Omer Meir Welber, a regular guest conductor at the Israeli Opera, the Semperoper Dresden, and at La Fenice Venice, and who serves as the Music Director of the Raanana Symphony Orchestra, is the heart of the program and provides it with its vision.
• Shared Society Project: In partnership with Merchavim, in 2015 A New Dawn and Kibbutz Kramim launched a joint forum to promote coexistence. This forum comprises of municipality officials and community leaders from the Kibbutz and Rahat. The forum members are committed and passionate about developing a better future for both Jews and Bedouins in the Negev region.  The forum’s goal in 2016 is to launch joint projects and programs. The forum currently has 40 participants, with an equal number of Jewish and Bedouin members.
• German Youth Exchange Program: Aims to understand discrimination in the context of the past and the present, and empowers students to serve as advocates against discrimination. Students from Germany come to Rahat, and students from Rahat travel to Germany: living together, traveling together, and getting to know one another on a deeper level while exploring the other's culture and historical context.
• Youth at Risk Employment Training Program: One of our most successful programs to date, this project directs youth 15-18 years of age towards empowering opportunities for growth, through long-term employment training. Training is provided in computer literacy, business computing, smartphone repair, as well as in entry level training for medical careers. Essential soft skills are also emphasized, such as professional level Hebrew, presentation skills, and public speaking to improve their confidence and sense of professionalism. 50-70% of program graduates are enrolled in further education, and are on a path to successfully integrating into Israeli society. Over 200 youths have participated in this program over the past three years.

- The Visitor, Training and Education Center
The project’s Visitor’s Center is designed to serve as an important eco-tourism destination, providing a source of income, while introducing visitors to Bedouin society, tradition and culture. The center also provides technical training for surrounding communities, acting as a source of ongoing empowerment, and it functions as a significant regional research and education center, serving primary and high schools from around the Negev.
- Herding and Dairy Initiative
The Herding and Dairy Initiative demonstrates a modern,
economically-viable model for animal husbandry that is
consistent with traditional practice. It produces a variety of
high-quality cheeses, and will soon utilize the full range of
herding byproducts, including dairy products, bio-gas fuel,
manure for fertilizer, and wool for weaving and crafts.
- Medicinal Plants Initiative
The Medicinal Plants Initiative preserves, documents,
and showcases traditional Bedouin knowledge in natural
healing remedies and body care utilizing desert herbs. It is
currently establishing a high-quality brand of healing and
cosmetic products, including creams, soaps, infusion teas
and essential oils.
-Indigenous Vegetable Initiative
The Indigenous Vegetable Initiative involves the cultivation
of a variety of authentic, indigenous desert vegetables,
in order to preserve heirloom desert varieties that are
disappearing from use and contribute to better nutrition
within the community. A women-led training program
helps reintroduce the cultivation of indigenous vegetables
on family-managed plots.
-Ecosystem Restoration Initiative
The project’s Ecosystem Restoration Initiative incorporates
an extensive soil enhancement, rainwater harvesting
and biodiversity enrichment agenda, demonstrating
an effective, low-impact approach to combatting
desertification.
- Integrated Infrastructure of
Green Technologies
The project site is supported by an integrated
infrastructure of green technologies. It includes a
pioneering hybrid wind/solar energy system, a state-ofthe-
art irrigation system, a bio-gas production system, a
wastewater treatment system, and a compositing facility.
