BTYM/ Individual and Social Creativity Centre, is a MICRO SOCİO TECHNOPARK which focus, change and motivate both virtual and physical training, prepare our people for 21. Century… Individual and Social Creativity Centre, in Rumeli Street in Nisantasi, at the centre of Istanbul provides an area for young who have ideals, dreams and projects, in this area they can use their creativity, meet with friends who can want to work with them, they can meet with their potentials and fulfill their projects. Besides, it provides training opportunities for young in order to support them with the necessary information within its own projects. BTYM has a large area at its centre. Meeting room, conversation room, study room, creation room, focus and resting room… In one room incubation group which wants to found a new company works, in the other room the team who organizes festival work… In one room project writing classes are given… One group of young is making a drama work, Childhood Trauma Professor who came from abroad to attend the child and communication congress makes character analyzes for the people in office… One of our young has just returned Leadership Congress and shares his knowledge with his friends… There is not hierarchy here; here there is free creativity… World music plays all day long. General Information
The Institute for Public Environment Development is a non-governmental organization founded on 4 April 2003 and registered as a not-for-profit legal entity. The main activities of the organization are development of civil-society participation in government; elaboration and application of controlling and accounting instruments designed for public institutions, and implementation of new practices and models in connection with public administration. The Institute pools together the efforts of people who have ample practical and theoretical experience in public administration, local self-government, regional development and civil-society participation. The organization has amassed unique experience in the institutionalization of the so-called community ombudsman in Bulgaria. The Chair of the IPED Board is the first Ombudsman of Sofia Municipality (2001-2003). The members of the organization have been trained in advocacy and lobbyism and are experienced in training civil-society structures in the practices of citizen participation and control. The organizational appraisal by experts is highly appreciated by non-governmental organizations seeking assistance for implementation of their project activities. The Institute for public environment development was actively involved and initiated advocacy campaigns for revisions of the Local Self-Government and Local Administration Act, statutory instruments of secondary legislation adopted by central and local government authorities, the Rules of Organization and Procedure of the Sofia Municipal Council for the 2003-2007 term of office and 2007 - 2011, and the Rules of Organization and Procedure of the 40th National Assembly.
Mission and Objectives

The Organization's main mission is promotion of civil culture and assertion of the values and principles of democratic law and order, encouragement of citizen control and popularization of the forms of citizen participation in governance.
Our main goals are dissemination of ideas and information, building partnerships and implementing programs and projects targeting: civil society development; creating conditions to guarantee respect for the rights and legitimate interests of citizens.
The principal purposes of the Association are:
* Promotion of civil culture and assertion of the values and principles of democratic law and order.
* Encouragement of citizen control, and popularization of the forms of citizen participation in governance.
* Improvement of the mechanisms ensuring transparency and accountability in the public environment.
* Building the capacity of public administration and improvement of governance in the public sector.

Zavod Voluntariat is a non-profit and non-governmental organization. Voluntariat is a member of world-wide international organization and peace movement Service Civil International (SCI), including more than 70 partner organizations organizing international voluntary projects and other activities all over the globe. SCI has consultative status with the Council of Europe, operational relations with UNESCO and is a member of: CCIVS: Coordinating Committee of International Voluntary Service Organizations, YFJ: Youth Forum Jeunesse AVSO: Association of Voluntary Service Organizations and UNITED for Intercultural Action. Zavod Voluntariat is self sustainable organization, funds are raised from local, state and EU funds (Municipality of Ljubljana, Ministry for work and social affairs, Youth in Action, Europe for Citizen, Norwegian founds etc.) Our yearly budget is around 100.000 €. Voluntariat employs 2 full time staff, 3 part time staff and more than 15 active volunteers. The work is monitored by Zavod’s council.
Mission and Objectives

Voluntariat organizes training for volunteers and other people in order to spread the understanding of the ideals of voluntary work and multiculturalism; organizes voluntary work together with local groups, which work in the area of nature conservation, peace education, culture, help to disadvantaged etc.; analyses and evaluates all its work, taking into account both the local and global context in which it is carried out; offers and spreads the information about voluntary work in Slovenia and other countries; joins international actions which promote co-operation between people of different nations, religions, cultures and political beliefs, convinced that such understanding of others can lead to non-violent resolutions of conflicts.
Voluntariat aims to promote social justice, sustainable development, international understanding and solidarity, through voluntary service. We consider international voluntary work as a useful tool for personal growth of individuals, promotion of social justice, intercultural learning and education for peace and tolerance.

• Organizing and managing international volunteer projects focusing on solidarity, global justice, multiculturalism, human rights, etc.

Recognizing Arab Puppetry's rich heritage, APTF was established with the aim to celebrate this artform & encourage new puppetry practices in the Arab World. As an umbrella organization, APTF brings together artists working with puppetry in many different contexts, encouraging imaginative and creative expression to foster mature relationships and care for our environment. To this end, this non-profit organization, works with a broad variety of individuals and organizations, including Arab youth, social workers, educators, budding and professional puppeteers. APTF's mission is to contribute towards education, artistic excellence, social cohesion, cultural and environmental awareness and economic growth through the power of puppetry. APTF assists the professional development of artists associated with puppetry. APTF designs specialized workshops, provides training, organizes festivals and art residencies, creates performances, assists the educational and non-governmental sector and produces publications and material on the subject of puppetry in the Arab World. APTF frequently organises residencies in and outside Lebanon that bring novice and established puppeteers together.

APTF has accumulated a wealth of experience using puppetry in various contexts that it is able to share with other members and member organisations part of the ALF Network.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

The ALF Networks overlaps with the geographical area, namely the Middle East and parts of Europe, where the APTF operates. Over the past 4 years, APTF has been establishing a vast network spreading across the Arab World, bringing established and student puppeteers together with professionals from the region as well as from Europe for its bi-annual residencies. Beyond that, it uses the art of puppetry as educational and environmental tools, in rural and urban contexts, as well as refugee camps. APTF strongly identifies with AFL's ethos of networking and would like to be able to invite other ALF members to take in its projects.

The Comparative Research Network is an international network of researchers, trainers and teachers based in Berlin. CRN is actively involved in scientific research, teaching and cultural activities that link the realm of ideas with everyday experience. As our name indicates, we work internationally and cross-culturally. Only through thoughtful comparison can we interpret our local reality, render it more comprehensible and develop strategies to address the issues that affect our everyday lives. CRN performs research both as a partner within international consortia as within the scope of its own projects. CRN publishes a working paper series that communicates the work of its members to a wider audience. In this sense the structure is not dependning on fulltime employees, but on the capability of the more than 50 members worldwide. In Berlin a staff of 3 is working permanently on developing projects, workshops and seminares, providing more than 60 partner organisations europeanwide. The main source of funding are income from Seminars and co-financing from various EU programmes, just like Grundtvig.

Our Mission: CRN investigates among other things: 1. The changing significance of national borders within the context of European integration and global change 2. Post-Social transformation and its implications for urban and regional development in Central and Eastern Europe 3. The emerging geopolitics of the European Union 4. Cultural dimensions of urban change 5. Intercultural dialogue and the need of intercultural competences in a globalized world Our philosophy: CRN believes in the power of context-sensitive research and is open to different theoretical and methodological approaches that promote meaningful comparative work. CRN also supports artistic endeavour that forges links between ‘science’, social issues and society.

Main Projects / Activities

The main actions are currently the Grundtvig In-Training series "European Intercultural Stimulation - becoming a diplomat between the cultures" organised by the CRN itself, involving at the moment 20 different partner from all over Europe. Secondly CRN is organising together with the city of Szczecin and the Euroregion Pomerania a course series on "intercultural competences in border regions". Most members of the CRN are actively involved in variouse FP7 and Marie-Curie programms of the European Union, concerning research projects in border regions - including the Euromediterranean.

CRN can contribute with its knowledge and manpower to work on social media projects and in the field of intercultural trainings.

CRN want to contribute its knowledge on intercultural dialogue, use of social media and border regions to the network. General Information
ACEV focuses on early childhood education, parent training and women's empowerment programs for the empowerment of the disadvantaged communities. It has a total of 71 full time staff with 40 in Istanbul headquarters and 31 in 6 field offices. ACEV also has 109 part-time field specialists that have supervised and trained a network of 8500 trainers who reach the end beneficiaries through the program implementations. Private funders provide a third of ACEV's annual operating budget. Over half of ACEV’s income is derived from local corporate funders. International grant funding is less than 10% and the remainder is through individual donations. For the implementation of programs at national level, ACEV partners with Ministry of National Education and Ministry of Family and Social Affairs. ACEV also collaborates with organizations in 13 countries that have already been implementing ACEV's programs.
Mission and Objectives

Founded in 1993, ACEV's mission is to provide equal opportunity in education to all by targeting the groups in society that are most severely impacted by lack of access to educational services.
In order to reach these groups, ACEV develops and implements programs and advocacy campaigns in its two main areas of expertise: early childhood and adult education.
ACEV also addresses cross-cutting issues or works in related sectors such as such as gender equality, functional literacy, access to basic education, and health care.
To date, AÇEV has reached nearly 700,000 individuals (plus 8,500 trainers) through its direct training programs and 8,000,000 viewers through television programs aimed at children, families, and illiterate women.
In total ACEV has reached an estimated 45,000,000 people through publications, research, and mass-media public awareness advocacy activities.

Main Projects / Activities

ACEV has centered its work on two main areas of expertise: early childhood and adult education. Guided by the principle of equal education opportunities for all, ACEV implements a broad range of integrated and complementary activities serving the principal goal of individual empowerment and societal development through education and lifelong learning.
In order to achieve these goals ACEV develops and implements education programs which empower the family, provides early childhood education, parenting and literacy/women’s support programs using a variety of models and mediums (ranging from face-to-face training modules to distance education via TV and web-based sources), delivers high quality trainer training and provides effective and systematic in-the-field support and supervision to trainers in order to maintain quality and consistency while scaling-up its programs.
ACEV also leads and participates awareness raising and policy-building activities on the issues of early childhood and adult education. The expertise in community based parent training and early childhood activities that the foundation has developed in Turkey has been recognized by the international community. Thus, ACEV also partners with UNESCO, ECOSOC, Consultative Group, Harvard and Yale University.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

In Turkey, the development of interaction and communication among civil society and universities is crucial for sustainability and empowerment of the projects which aim to support the development of peace, education, human rights etc. ACEV, as Turkey-based NGO, will be able to contribute to the development of dialogue and partnerships among the members of ALF network and also support the corporate development and institutionalization of ALF Network of Turkey by using its previous experiences.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

ACEV has developed cost-effective early childhood programs that empower the role of parents as “first educators” of their child in supporting social, emotional, cognitive and physical development. ACEV programs are also included important learning outcomes related to the current social problems such as elimination of domestic violence, gender inequality, and child protection. Thus, ACEV intends to use the network of ALF to expand its scientifically grounded early childhood programs to support the development of peaceful societies. While ACEV’s programs have been implemented on a small scale in several other countries, the ALF network will enable the implementation of an international strategy through establishing new country partnerships.

We organize the seminars and announce it to all the related organizations ,then we give the Basic information about projects and if there are interested groups they come to our office and get all kinds of guidance services ie. how to find partners,how to fill in the forms,activity organizations,report writing,budget planning,implementation and dissemination of the activities.

General Information
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) holds a very important place in local administration organization of Istanbul. Its area of responsibility encompasses the entire provincial territory, which spans a total area of 5,343 km2. IMM has 25 municipal enterprises, 2 subsidiary public utility corporations (Transport Authority and Water & Sanitation Authority) and 43,500 employees in total. It is responsible for wide variety of areas including environment, natural-gas supply, energy, infrastructure, planning and development, IT, transportation, community services and vocational education, health-wellness, food & catering, culture, tourism etc.EU Departmant prepares project proposals for EU funds in the name of the municipality, contacts prospective project partners, establish and coordinate cooperation for project partnerships for EU grants. IMM is the member of Union of Turkish Municipalities (TBB), Union of Municipalities of Marmara Region (MBB), United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), World Academy for Local Governance and Democracy (WALD), World Association of Major Metropolises (METROPOLIS), Network of Major European Cities (EUROCITIES), Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC), European Cities against Drugs (ECAD), WHO Healthy Cities Network etc. Our EU Department's projects are mainly funded by the EU and Istanbul Development Agency.
Mission and Objectives

It is the mission of the Municipality to offer local services to all residents with the understanding of providing an efficient and effective governance with the most up-to-date, equitable, and open to development qualities in order to fulfill our responsibilities in regards to Istanbul, which has been at the meeting point of civilizations, to increase the quality life of its citizens, the consolidation of the city’s unique identity, and to make a meaningful contribution to make it a respected world city.

Main Projects / Activities

We have implemented and have been implementing EU funded projects and Istanbul Development Agency funded projects concerning urban development, culture, mobility, youth, transport, energy, education, information communication technology etc.
For instance, SmartSpaces:Saving Energy in Europe's Public Buildings using ICT;CITYSDK:Smart City Service Development Kit and its Application Pilots;Increasing Energy Efficiency of Chişinau and Sevastopol Municipalities Based on Existing Positive Experience Project;SUMPA-MED:Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning Adapted to Mediterranean;
JADE: Joining Innovative Approaches for the Integration and Development of Transnational Knowledge Clusters Policies Related to Independent Living of Elderly; Education Starts in Nursery School-PA- Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance;
CONDUITS:Coordination of Network Descriptors for Urban Intelligent Transportation Systems;
LEARNINC:Business Incubators for Improving Creativity and Entrepreneurship in Historical - Centre Clusters;Let’s Smile Together in This Summer Project in the framework of EU Youth Programme etc.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

Given the huge organization structure of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality,we can disseminate outcomes of projects and create various consortiums eventually expanding the scope of the Network. What's more, we can increase collaboration in the Mediterranean in various fields.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

We would like to enhance the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership.For this reason we would like to exchange our experiences in order to boost the Euro-Mediterranean space.
