Mission and Objectives

The main objective of the Keshet model of education is to influence Israeli society in large by educating children over a significant length of time (kindergarten to 12th grade) to be open minded, respectful and tolerant members of society. We believe that in the long run this will inspire Israeli citizens and future governance, and will hopefully be reflected both inside our society and outside.

We work to achieve our goals by:
• Supporting and developing curricula for Keshet schools and kindergartens.
• Providing ongoing professional development for Keshet staff as well as other pluralistic schools in and around Jerusalem.
• Expanding our work to more schools in the country that are interested to adopt our model.
• Organizing pluralistic communal activities in our Jerusalem Campus.
• Providing pre-training professional development classes for teachers in the area of Jewish Culture, together with the David Yellin College for teachers in Jerusalem.
• Creating a center for Dialogue based Pluralistic Education in collaboration with other organizations in Jerusalem.
The Keshet School is an educational community dedicated to promoting a respectful life style in Israel. By addressing the diverse needs and sensitivities of Israel’s many religious and secular populations, Keshet aims to create an environment that promotes mutual understanding, effectively eliminating the concept of “the other” that fragments and destabilizes Israel.

•Support start-ups of new pluralistic schools in the country: guidance, training, modeling, etc.
•Ongoing support for the existing Keshet educational settings.
•Curricula Development for Lower, Middle and High School students, dealing with personal, Israeli and Jewish identity with a Humanistic approach. The curricula is written in modular form.
