General Information

OFCI is currently managed by 5 administrators including a president, a secretary and a treasurer. The association is run by one full time employee and some international interns as well as by some punctual volunteers.
Our budget is between 5000 to 20'000 € per year depending on the project we are implementing.
Fundings are coming from different sources: the State, the Erasmus+ programme through various National Agencies, some local fundings, the member's contributions and donations from individuals.

Mission and Objectives

Our main mission is to develop ties with other actors all around the world to develop education, citizenship, human rights, cultural, STEAM and all kind of projects we will find relevant.
Our objectives are to:
- Create a space where young people from different social, economical and cultural backgrounds can meet and design projects together.
- Build projects which are relevant, cost-effective, brainstormed out-of-the-box for today's and tomorrow's youth challenges.
- Develop the Leadership of our members through hard and soft skills trainings, omnipresent international atmosphere and leaping out of their comfort zone.
- Drive the democratic progress by reversing the roles in the decision making process and giving the citizens full power to decide what matter for them thanks to ICT.

Main Projects / Activities

The origins of the association are based on Human Rights defense with a first mission in the Gaza Strip (Palestine) few months after its creation. We gave to some public and private organisations financial donations that we had collected in France, we filmed a movie coverage that we screened during 3 public events in France that gathered around 80 people and the film has since then been published on Youtube where more than 1000 people have watched it.

After this experience, we thought that it was not enough but without opportunity to go back to Gaza Strip, we decided to go support the palestinian people in the refugee camps of Lebanon, we sent there for around 60 000 € of paramedical equipment and we traveled with our 4 members team our bagages full of medicines. Considering the success of the film from Gaza, we decided to make a new documentary to talk about the history and the life of people living in those refugee camps. The film has been screened during a single event at the Lille 2 university where 60 students gathered to watch it. It was a great success considering the average number of participants in events related with Palestine.

In July 2018, we have organized a Palestinian diner in the neighborhood where OFCI was born. 100 inhabitants gathered, paid their seat and stayed for the diner and the presentations.

Working on Palestine and Lebanon related activities was life changing for everyone who has been involved, we really want to keep going in this direction and develop new long term project with palestinian refugees in Lebanon that are going through intense challenges.

Outside of these projects in Middle East, OFCI has always wanted since 2012 to implement activities with other actors all around the world. Thanks to the Erasmus+ program, it became a reality in 2013 in Erasmus+ with the sending of french young people to more than 70 youth exchanges and training courses tackling different issues that young people are interested in such as citizenship, human rights, unemployment, entrepreneurship, interculturality and environment.

On a local scale, the organization is setting up public events that are designed to encourage young people and members of the organization to meet, as well as other inhabitants of the area. On a national level, we support young people to stand up for what they think is right, debate about different topics online and confront their ideas.

General Information

As a doctor, I would like to use my skills and knowledge to help people to overcome diseases and health barriers allowing them to achieve the highest possible quality of life. Throughout my studies, I had been present in an international organisation called European Medical Students Association (EMSA). There, I took parts in various events and seminars which mainly aimed to raise the public health awareness. During my first year in EMSA, I became the Public Health Coordinator. Therewith, I volunteered in ‘Health Screening Tour of Black Sea’; a project concerning health issues caused by welfare gap. I also was a volunteer, then the leader, of the ‘Teddy Bear Hospital’; a project which educated children on common health knowledge. The year after, when I became the EMSA’s Internal Vice President, I participated in a Leadership Training Program which highly broadened my understanding of organisational management as well as it improved my leadership skills. Being in contact with well-known NGOs and being a member of EMSA and Rotary led me form a strong desire to learn more about organisational development and management. My summer internship at Assos Pharmaceuticals enabled me to see companies from an inner perspective, hence, improved my understanding of the relation between work place and employees’ health. Lately, I formed a strong desire to top my studies with another subject that I am highly interested in, which is organisations. However, finding a combination of health and organisational management was a great obstacle. Also, all the experiences I had in various countries and international platforms opened my eyes on diversity. Thus, as my admiration for the Scandinavian, more specifically Swedish, culture reached its peak; continuing my studies in Sweden would be nothing but a dream come true. With the experience I have gained in working at the emergency department, I see myself emerging as a natural leader and controller of the hardest situations. Leaders are those few who do manage to balance the use of their “lever and fulcrum”. The building of a successful lever has only just begun for me. There is still so much that I have not seen or done. Life is full of opportunities that can lead to great experiences which will aid me in becoming the best doctor and scientist I can possibly be.

Our peer support groups are volunteer based and lead. We promote multiculturality though our acitivities. We do a lot of expertise work and train professionals in different field. We also organise Finnish courses. Advocacy work is also really big part of our activities.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

When it comes to the Anna Lindh Foundation three pillars:
1. Empowering young voices
2. Influencing policymakers
3. Building a movement for dialogue and exchange in the face of growing mistrust and polarization among societies.
we are doing all of that in Familia in Finland. We are trying to influence on more equal and open society, get our intercultural families voice heard and building dialogue. Two way integration is something that we really are keen to promote. It is also the society that has to change when people from different backgrounds are moving to society.

We want to continue our work and maybe through this network find new possibilities for the shared goals that we have.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

As an organisation that works with people coming all around the world being a part of ALF network is natural thing. We also want to add dialogoe, make societies more equal, inclusive and prevent polarisation. Working towards these together is important for us and we feel that belonging to this network would bring us more knowledge and information but also that we can offer our expertise and knowledge for others. Collaboration and parterships are more and more important for working for common goals. That's why we would want to partnership in this. Many of your current organisation (in Finnish network) are our partners but still there are many that we haven't worked with or heard before. We share same values and that is of course main thing for joining this network. We want to be also more international.
