Mission and Objectives

Established in 1994 in Amman, Jordan, under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince El Hassan bin Talal, the Royal Institute for Inter-Faith Studies (RIIFS) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization that provides a venue in the Arab world for the interdisciplinary study and rational discussion of intercultural and interreligious issues. RIIFS focuses on promoting common human and ethical values that contribute to strengthening cooperation and interfaith relations, eliminating mutual misconceptions about the ‘other’ and expanding shared commonalities among followers of diverse religions and cultures, regionally and globally.

Main Projects / Activities

1. The Promotion of the ‘Amman Message’ Project Funded by the European Union and contracted by the Jordanian Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, RIIFS is currently implementing the “Promotion of the ‘Amman Message’ Project,” the first initiative of its kind in the Arab world. Launched in September 2012, this two-year project aims to develop and establish a multi-leveled discourse that tackles diverse dimensions of religious conflict, amongst Muslims on the one hand, and between Muslims and non-Muslims on the other. The project is being implemented by RIIFS locally, regionally and internationally through research, conferences and symposia, training programs and publications. 2. MA Program in Religion and Culture RIIFS is currently in the process of establishing a graduate Program in Religion and Culture granting an MA degree accredited by Yarmouk University in Jordan. The program is designed for graduate students from Jordan, the Arab region and abroad, coming from a variety of disciplines, who wish to enrich their knowledge of the role of religions in contemporary societies. This program is very much in line with RIIFS’s vision of fostering deeper mutual understanding between the followers of different faiths. In addition to the MA program, a Certificate Program will also conduct training courses targeting teachers and preachers of religion, designed in cooperation with the Ministries of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Education and Higher Education, as well as other relevant Jordanian institutions. 3. As Head of the Jordanian Network of the Anna Lindh Foundation, Since November 2010 RIIFS engages the Jordanian civil society organization members, activists and youth, in consultation with the Steering Committee, in organizing activities that are consistent with ALF's strategy. It also represents the network members in the main international ALF events. The goal is to promote acceptance of pluralism, cultural diversity, mutual respect among societies, religions and beliefs and the acknowledgment of the rule of law and fundamental freedoms in the Euro-Med region. RIIFS has established an outstanding track record as National Head of Network in the South.

Mission and Objectives

The Heschel Center for Environmental Learning and Leadership was established to lead Israel to become a society based on renewal of the values of justice and caring for the future of the land and its inhabitants.
We envisage a society where real progress and growth are defined in terms of ecological health and social justice, where we all participate in the making of the decisions that affect us through fair and transparent process, where values of community, common destiny and compassion are the basis for our actions.
Through its programs, the Heschel Center trains leading individuals from across the spectrum of Israeli society to become the social-environmental vanguard, implementing this innovative vision of an ecologically and socially sustainable future based on values we inherited from our forebears.

General Information
Mission and Objectives

Main Projects / Activities

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

General Information

Ögonblicksteatern is a professional independent theatre with subsidy from the municipality, the region, the Swedish Arts Council and from varied foundations.

We play about our time and direct the spotlight where society rubs. To the invisible, the undiscovered, the unseen and the impermissible to make it accessible and enchanting.

We want to show new images of reality by seeking the hitherto invisible and unseen. We are constantly trying to find new stories to portray on stage. To believe that another reality is possible, new images of reality need to be presented. In the issue of accessibility, Ögonblicksteatern has found a great artistic development potential for the performing arts. We work to put all bodies and thoughts in focus by working with an ensemble of people with norm-breaking and norm-following functionality.

We have our stage centrally down by the river in Umeå and in addition to theater, concerts, lectures, meetings and much more take place here. We believe that all culture is created in the meeting, that what is created is never static, that culture is to give everyone access to a place where you can get an impression and give expression. As part of this, Ögonblicksteatern works to make the performing arts accessible to everyone. The venue is fully accessible and we work with various artistic means to create opportunities for everyone to take part in and practice performing arts. Everyone has the right to a place, everyone has the right to culture!

Mission and Objectives

Our aim is to make the stage mirror the reality and we do this by allowing different types of bodies and stories on the stage.

Today our area of competence, apart from theatre and dramatic art, are accessibility, normative power systems and democratic rights. Ögonblicksteatern create theatre to make norms visible and questioned. To make the theatre accessible, we must examine the world around us and our way of giving it form. To be able to believe that another reality is possible we need new images/descriptions of reality to be offered.
