General Information
The Mediterranean Institute employs over 15 professors on a full time basis whilst employs a number of part-timers to teach at the different university courses and study-units. As a university based Institute, the major source of funding comes from the Government of Malta. At the same time, it is independent from the Government and is directly answerable to the Senate and Council of the University of Malta. Besides its normal teaching duties, the Mediterranean Institute has been involved, and is involved in a number of international seminars and exchange projects. It has participated in a number of E.U. projects, such as the Navigation du Savoir project (Media Heritage II project) and is now participating in another EU. Entitled Approving project.
Mission and Objectives

The main objective of the Mediterranean Institute is to promote Mediterranean studies in both the arts and social sciences, through a holistic understanding of this historic region, its culture and its people.

Main Projects / Activities

The Institute performs three important functions: training, research and information. Training is performed through the organization of interdisciplinary courses covering a broad range of subject areas: Anthropology, Geography, Hispanic Studies, History of Mediterranean Civilization, Music Studies, Near Eastern Studies and Theatre Studies. Research is undertaken both from within the Institute and in response to external requests. The Institute disseminates information through networking, conferences and publications, particularly the Journal of Mediterranean Studies.
The Mediterranean Institute also participates in European Projects.

Svenska Kyrkans Unga Göteborgs distrikt is part of Svenska Kyrkans Unga (Church of Sweden youth), which is an open community of young people who want to discover and share christian faith. Though free-standing, the bonds to Church of Sweden are strong. The whole organisation is based on the levels; lokalavdelningar (local groups often corresponding to parishes), distrikt (districts corresponding to the Church of Sweden episcopates), and förbund (national). All members (to this date about 14 000) belong to lokalavdelningar with their own activities and operations. Membership is free of charge and non-denominational Svenska Kyrkans Unga Göteborgs distrikt geographically covers the swedish west coast with base in Gothenburg.

January 1st 2010, the Association Française des Volontaires du Progrès, AFVP, created in 1963, become France Volontaires, on the initiative of public authorities and associations.France Volontaires is a platform which play a role of interface. It currently has a presence in 55 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin . In Egypt we have a representative of the platform who works with local partners. we have now a network of more than 80 associations, our partners in Egypt. France Volontaires budget comes from the Ministry of Foreign and European. our activities : Sending volunteers Supporting the different stakeholder of volunteerism Organising workshop and meeting to improve volunteers capacity and create a network of volunteers. our partners: in France secondary school pupils, students young graduates working professionals retired people etc. associations territorial collectivities public bodies companies, foundations, individuals etc
Mission and Objectives

France Volontaires is charged with a general interest mission, that is, “promoting and developing the various forms of involvement that fall under the remit of International Volunteering for Exchange and Solidarity (I.V.E.S.), and helping to implement them. This project is carried out in a spirit of respect for the values set out in the communal charter, upheld by the organisations sending out volunteers and the volunteers themselves.” (Article 1 of the statutes).

Main Projects / Activities

In practical terms, it is therefore a case of:
improving knowledge and recognition of the diff erent forms of volunteering;
helping to develop the number of I.V.E.S. in terms of quality and quantity, while
pursuing its mission of sending out International Volunteers for Solidarity;
supporting associations that send out IVES in their missions of mobilisation, preparation,
monitoring, management and reintegration of people when they get back;
making the I.V.E.S. sector more dynamic;
n helping strengthen public policy in France.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

France Volontaires (and before AFVP) is a member of the French network of the Anna Lindh Foundation since 2008.It is natural that France Volontaires Egypte, committed since 2010 for the development of civic engagement in the country wants to join theEgyptian FAL network.
In a context marked by the changes, reforms and revolutions experienced by Arab societies, but also by the global economic and social crisis which raises new challenges for living together, synergies should be promoted between civil society actors who share same values ​​and work for a common cause.
Through its volunteering spaces in Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, Lebanon, France Volontaires can encourage and facilitate the networking of volunteering actors in Mediterranean, by placing volunteering as a tool for dialogue and peace for youth whom desire an active participation in the construction of the society.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

Through its action and its reflection in the Euro-Mediterranean area, France Volontaires joined the Foundation objectives considering intercultural dialogue as a factor in mobilizing civil society, to enhance the diversity, the promotion of the participation of society in the construction of open and pluralistic democracies, and promoting inclusive and sustainable human development.
In addition, for several years, with their international volunteers for solidarity, France Volontaires supports cultural and artistic cooperation projects in Euro-Mediterranean.
In Egypt, France Volontaires supports such projects since 2003 to raise awareness of alexandrian youth for the Alexandrian, Egyptian and Mediterranean Heritage in partnership with the Centre d'Etudes Alexandrines and cooperation between Provence Alpes Côte d'Azur and Alexandria.

VšĮ Hortus apertus is a public non-profit organisation. Institution body is general shareholder's meeting. Head of organization - Director. Organization has 5 establishers and members-volunteers. Main partner and also main sponsor: UAB Kvapu namai (Aroma House, Ltd.); partner: Vilnius Art Academy. Budget depends on actions organized by Hortus apertus. Hortus apertus regularly organizes exhibitions, lectures, conferences, workshops and seminars.

Mission and Objectives

• historical, critical, cultural and anthropological approach, research and presentation of smell and parfumery craft and art; • the studies of the Concept of Smell in ancient and contemporary cosmological, metaphysical and hermetic systems; research of smell culture's interface in creation of traditional gardens; • presentation the historical paradigm of perfumery; • setting up smell as contemporary art media discourse in Lithuania; • the smelling art, olfactory training, smell history educational and cultural projects (exhibitions, lectures, seminars, practical workshops); • publishing works on smell, perfumery history, theory and practice and etc.

In two years Hortus apertus organized: First exhibition of Olfactory Art "Rose Garden" in Lithuania; Ongoing seminar "Smell and Music in different cultures"; International Conference ROSA MUNDI (Cultural and historical concept of Rose); Pommanders' exhibition "Fight the smell"; Exhibition "The smells' of Interim and Eternal City"; Vilnius Culture Night 2012: "Journey to Babilon: the oldest smells in human history".

We can join to ALF projects directly working on Mediterranean olfactory further. Our first contribution is to join ALF "Arab culture days" in Vilnius with our latest project: "Journey to Babilon: the oldest smells in human history".
