General Information

People in Need Slovakia (PIN SK) was established in 1999. Since then we have been operating in 27 countries, combating poverty and helping people live in dignity. We provide humanitarian aid in critical regions around the world to support people in crises and help individuals overcome challenging circumstances, so they can get back on their feet.

Mission and Objectives

Our mission is to provide emergency assistance in crises, support most vulnerable and marginalised persons, contribute to community development and reinforce human rights and good governance.

Main Projects / Activities

Examples of our support include that of vulnerable persons affected by armed conflicts in Ukraine, the poorest and most marginalised in Slovakia, and promotion of human rights and civil society activities in Moldova and Cuba. We work directly on the ground and promote systemic change by addressing root causes, such as discrimination in accessing education and safe environments for disadvantaged children, youth and women in Lebanon, Iraq or Afghanistan. As the Covid-19 pandemic broke out, it has become clear that in addition to our activities we must also include long-term humanitarian assistance into our activities. Therefore, we have provided WASH installations for healthcare and elderly facilities, distributed food and hygiene vouchers for most vulnerable families, strengthened and remotely provided educational, protection and various psychosocial programmes in multiple countries and played an advisory and coordinating role in a national pandemic planning and response for marginalised Roma communities in Slovakia.
