ALF Network Members Field Visit #6

On the 5th of February 2021 was held the ALF Network Members Field Visit #6, organized by the HoN of the Anna Lindh Foundation Turkey, at the premises of our Network Members' offices in Istanbul, following the previous ones organized in the last months in Ankara, Eskisehir and Antalya.

This meeting registered the attendance of the representatives of National Coordinators respectively assistant coordinators, Mrs. Esmeralda Kashari and Mr. Jacopo Cimmino and the Network members based in Istanbul. This meeting provided the attendees with the opportunity:
- to have a better knowledge of the work and involvement of the Network Members,
- to discuss further calls and assistance in this regard,
- to evaluate opportunities and possible collaborations,
- to go through past ALF events,
- to analyze the principles of the Anna Lindh Foundation and how to put them into practice in the activities.t

In addition, the participants were informed invited to attend the upcoming activities that the HoN Turkey will be organizing from March to the end of June 2021.

On the 21st of January 2021 HoN of Anna Lindh Foundation Turkey Network hosted virtually the ALF Turkey National Network Meeting.

During the meeting, the Members of the ALF Turkish Network could discuss together, through the virtual platform, the latest updates on the ALF Network activities, relationship building, programs & upcoming events, strategies for 2021 and methods to make it through especially during this difficult period affected by the pandemic. The event contributed therefore to boosting the working capacities of the institutions of the civil society sector part of the ALF Turkey Network.

The Moderators of the event were Dr. Necdet Salğam and Mr. Gürkan Akçaer with the back support of Mrs. Esmeralda Kashari and Mr.Jacopo Cimmino.

Heritage of Ali İsmail Korkmaz ALIKEV is founded by Ali Ismail Korkmaz's family; who was a 19 year old boy when he was killed in a peaceful protest. Founders of ALIKEV, the family of Ali İsmail, declares that ALIKEV should remember Ali İsmail by the way he lived, not by the way he died. Ali İsmail founded a movement when he was 17 and called that movement "youth for society". This movement is seen a heritage by the family; and ALIKEV is built on that basis.
Mission and Objectives

Mission
ALIKEV, aims to honour Ali İsmail Korkmaz's memory and make real his "youth for society" dream. To achieve this aim, ALIKEV supports and empowers youth regardless of their gender, race or language, to be both prejudice and conflict free and more equalitarian by participating in projects which aims social benefits.
Vision
ALIKEV carries out its activities directly by youth participation towards a world which is socially peaceful and equal, free of all kind of unequal relations, including human-nature relations.

Main Projects / Activities

1. Dream Ambassadors (DA), aims to educate youth (aged 15-25) to build their own projects and then implement and volunteer in those projects. Every DA candidate should take 3 basic courses to be a DA and propose project. Any group with at least 4 people (2 of them must be DA) may propose a project. Every project proposal is mentored by ALIKEV staff for development and every accepted project is funded by ALIKEV. Projects are not limited in any field but must have social beneficial outputs. Projects about vulnerable groups are most encouraged.
2. Scholarship Fund is for high school and university students. Currently 55 students are funded.
3. Enrich Hatay aims to support the city atmosphere socially and culturally. Educational courses, social integration projects are developed in this programme.
4. Remembrance of Ali İsmail Korkmaz programme is just to honour Ali İsmail's memory and remembrance  nights are prepared on his birth and death days.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

ALİKEV as an NGO working with and for youth, working a world in which youth to be both prejudice and conflict free. To achieve our organisation's main mission, we believe in cooperation for peace in local, national, regional and international level. We may learn from and feedback on ongoing activies as well as sharing our own experiences. Learning means improvement of our own activies in the means of network's aim as well as collaborating with network members.  ALİKEV has a powerful social impact and we believe that may contribute the newwork as well.

"The main scope of the ALF is overcoming the misunderstandings and stereotypes which affect relations between and within the societies of the Region, a task which became of utmost importance in the last decade. As a contribution to the creation of a space of prosperity, coexistence and peace, the ALF works to restore trust in dialogue and bridge the gaps in mutual perceptions, as well as promoting diversity and coexistence."

ALTIDAN SONRA TIYATRO is composed of members who have professional careers in their lives before 6 p.m. as academicians, managers, architects and engineers. The group has been established in 2000 and active since then. None of the group members receive any income from the company and support the group with their donations. This has been the rule of the company for the past 15 years. ALTIDAN SONRA TIYATRO has participated in 17. Istanbul International Theater Festival with “The Cloven Visconti” and in 18. Istanbul International Theater Festival with original production of “A Carefree Play”. Both productions made extra shows after the festival as a result of the demand came from the festival audience. With these and almost all productions, the company was given prestigious national theater awards.
Mission and Objectives

Main mission of the company is providing Turkish theater scene original plays in Turkish. The company’s priority is staging plays written by the group members.
ALTIDAN SONRA TIYATRO has been continuing to stage its works for 15 years with at least one new play per year.
ALTIDAN SONRA TIYATRO has reached this goal after original productions were staged by other prestigious theaters of  Turkey following their initial production by the company.
Main objective of the company is to provide plays to the Turkish theater literature and help other companies to share their works with the Turkish audience.

Altıdan Sonra Tiyatro would like to engage in multi cultural projects from the selected partners of ALF Network and not only be only an acting partner but also a solution partner to the institutions within the Network.
We believe ALF would enrich our relationships with institutions across Europe and provide a platform to present our strenghts to other partners within the ALF network for potential collaborations.

General Information
Amnesty International founded in 1961, is an organization based on worldwide voluntary membership and it shall consist of sections, structures, international networks, affiliated groups and international members. Amnesty International’s vision is of a world in which every person enjoys all of the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international human rights instruments. It forms a global community of human rights defenders with the principles of international solidarity, effective action for the individual victim, global coverage, the universality and indivisibility of human rights, impartiality and independence, and democracy and mutual respect. The reason for making a branch of Amnesty International in Turkey was to expand the work for human rights in Turkey.
Mission and Objectives

Amnesty International’s mission is to undertake research and action focused on preventing and ending grave abuses of these rights.

Main Projects / Activities

Amnesty International addresses governments, intergovernmental organizations, armed political groups, companies and other non-state actors.
AI seeks to disclose human rights abuses accurately, quickly and persistently. It systematically and impartially researches the facts of individual cases and patterns of human rights abuses. These findings are publicized, and members, supporters and staff mobilize public pressure on governments and others to stop the abuses.
In addition to its work on specific abuses of human rights, AI urges all governments to observe the rule of law, and to ratify and implement human rights standards; it carries out a wide range of human rights educational activities; and it encourages intergovernmental organizations, individuals, and all organs of society to support and respect human rights.
Our members and supporters exert influence on governments, political bodies, companies and intergovernmental groups.
Activists take up human rights issues by mobilizing public pressure through mass demonstrations, vigils and direct lobbying as well as online and offline campaigning.
Addition to these Amnesty International's campaign to Stop Violence Against Women(SVAW):
•Pushes for the implementation of existing laws that guarantee access to justice and services for women subjected to violence including rape and other forms of sexual violence
•Calls for new laws to be enacted that will protect women's human rights
•Demands an end to laws that discriminate against women
•Urges the ending of violence against women perpetrated by a state and its agents
•Works to empower women

Anadolu Kültür is a non-for-profit company based in Istanbul which has been established in 2002 with the participation of individuals and institutions from various disciplines of art. General Information
Anadolu University's Faculty of Communication Sciences has four departments. They are Journalism, Public Relations and Advertising, Communication Design and Management, Cinema and Television. All these departments focus on the areas of arts, democracy, environment, human interaction, cultural dialogue, gender, human rights, international and cultural relations, media, research, education and more within and towards these fields. It is a public university, so the faculty uses the budget which is allocated by the university. Every year, there is a certain budget. The faculty is very active in international and national projects, such as digital bridges for EU-Turkey common cultural heritage, international journalism projects for human rights and immigrant rights, arts education projects and more. In these projects, EU bodies, international NGOs and educational institutions and more are our partners.
Mission and Objectives

As Faculty of Communication Sciences one of the leader institutions within its category in the country, within our four departments mentioned above, we aim to establish projects, cooperations, networks, research, education and more to educate, energize and encourage young generations within our four fields. Accordingly, it needs to be done through national and international cooperations.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

Anadolu University's Faculty of Communication Sciences has the highest number of international students compare to any other school in its field. It has been like this for a long time. The main idea in this internationalisation is to create broader cultural perspectives to our students and to community while they are reaching their goals within their fields. Also, more exposure of other cultures, dialogues, aspects and issues gave them greater sensitivities for other cultures, nations and groups so far according to our experiences.
