MFFSD is one of the leading youth organizations working in the field of youth empowerment, strengthening of Moroccan youngsters and youth politics, promotion of civic engagement, democratization and human rights in Morocco. To develop their fullest potential and bring about positive change in the societies they live, we envision a situation where young people are involved, valued, respected and listened to, where they feel safe and are safe, and where they can develop to their fullest potential. Ultimately the impact of Youth Initiative is to enhance the quality of life for all members of the society.

Mission and Objectives

Our experience strengthened our belief that involving young people in decision making is an intrinsic way to empower them and to increase their sense of belonging and active citizenship. This involvement should include not only the support by local authorities to activities aimed for young people but also a broader dimension, where youth has an active voice and is a fundamental actor of the development of their local communities. MFFSD is built on the principles of creating an effective and sustainable involvement of youth on decision-making with and in cooperation with local authority’s demands willingness and commitment from both parts, but also the development of knowledge, sharing of experience and tools to create and to develop further these spaces of shared decision-making. This demands the development of strategies, building structures and relations of trust and cooperation between actors.

Main Projects / Activities

We do everything to promote youth participation in our community politics, organizing structure dialogue sessions between the local and regional decision makers and the youth from our city. We try to get the youth opinion and ideas to be taken into consideration by the local government, taking them to our municipal youth council after addressing those questions to the common youth and their representatives. Most importantly, we try to get youth interested in those matters and wishing to take part in the community evolution. We do actions to show them the importance of it, and referendums to get their feelings and opinions.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

We would like to join ALF in order to widen our network to find partners who work on the same fields and have same goals and obejctives , this will help us provide for moroccan youth the opportunity to develop their personal and professional throughout the non formal learning methods.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

To bridge the gap between the media, decision makers and the community. It intends to make it more accessible both as a tool and a strategy for advocacy of their voices in order to influence change. To establish a media centre that is for, by and about the community, and one that pursues a social development agenda, thus making people aware of the effectiveness of the media as a tool for change. • To reinforce and develop the role of the Moroccan media towards the social and developmental issues of the Moroccan society. • To light on the issues of the marginalized categories and groups such: women, children, poor people, people with disability etc, on the media in order to rise up the public’s awareness with such neglected issues.
