Background

The Croatian Presidency of the European Council from January-June 2020 provides the perfect backdrop to generate positive narratives to fight extremism and to inter-connect community resilience in the face of unprecedented regional challenges, setting priority areas of strategic actions to define the next decade of intercultural dialogue. Croatia is situated on the cross-roads between Central Europe and the Mediterranean, and as a natural junction/intersection, twenty years after the very first EU Enlargement Summit in Zagreb, the opportunity to reinforce its message and to focus on reconciliation presents a natural setting for the Mediterranean Forum of the Anna Lindh Foundation, the largest civil society gathering and most influential process of its kind for inter-cultural dialogue across the Mediterranean region.
