General Information
The main VAA bodies are: Senate - highest self-government body elected for 5 years; Rector - manages and represents VAA, and acts on the VAA behalf; Student Union; VAA Council - public regulatory and tutorage body. There are 5 and 23 departments. At present VAA has 499 employees. Faculty members make 52% of the employees, administration - 26,3%, property management - 22%. Students: BA – 1621 MA – 370 PhD – 32 Art Licentiate – 12 Budget average is 5,8 millions euros per year. 65% of the yearly VAA budget comes from the Lithuanian state budget subsidy, 13% is earned by the VAA for its services (tuition, etc.); 22% - from the external funds. VAA runs, initiates and administrates eight international conferences and workshops on average per year. VAA has almost 70 Erasmus partners and is a member of the several international associations and networks: CUMULUS, KUNO, CIRRUS, etc.
Mission and Objectives

Vilnius Academy of Arts is education and science institution which mission is to reveal artistic talents of Lithuanian people, to create, store, analyse and promote cultural values while contributing to the development of democratic knowledge society, economic prosperity and social welfare.
Strategical objective is to prepare high-qualified professionals for artistic and scientific career in art research centres, artistic, cultural and educational institutions.

Main Projects / Activities

In order to reach its strategical objective VAA implements these main activities:
1) Publishing (VAA Publishing house)
2) Research on arts (VAA Art Research Institute and other VAA divisions)
3) Collecting, storing and preserving educational material, diploma projects and artistic heritage (VAA Library, VAA Museum)
4) Educational activities: exhibitions, lectures, qualification courses, events of art education (various VAA divisions)
5) Representation of the works of VAA‘s students and lectors in the international events and projects.
