Children are the future actors of the Euro-Mediterranean and they represent approximately 20-40 per cent of the populations in the region. While it is during childhood that intercultural competencies have to be acquired and rehearsed, children are often underestimated, ignored and excluded from art, education and the media. Hence schools, media, civil society and NGOs working in education, culture and peace sectors urgently need methodologies, content and networks for educational, artistic and intercultural exchange among the youngest citizens of the Euro-Mediterranean region.

With these challenges in mind, the Brush meets Melody project set out to create and curate an intercultural, educative, media and art-based project for children in the Euro-Mediterranean region firstly by organising two workshops in Berlin which set an inspirational character and foundation of the intercultural approach. During the first workshop, the participating children focused on art and creativity while also learning about the Euro-Mediterranean region and its different cultures.

Throughout the second workshop, the children had the chance to discover their talents while working with sounds and music. The underlying idea was to create a song with them. The same workshops were also held in Cyprus and Morocco.

Finally, an online exhibition presented the outcomes of the project to the world while three local exhibitions were also organized.
