Generations For Peace (GFP), a member of the Jordanian ALF network, inaugurated the “Thiqa” (Trust) Programme in collaboration with the municipalities of Al-Salt and Al-Karak.
The seven-month programme, supported by the Netherlands-based Porticus, aims to amplify youth civic engagement by building capacities and facilitating transformative dialogue between officials from the two municipalities and 30 Youth Leaders aged 18 to 30.
“Thiqa” kicked off in January with an extensive training at GFP headquarters. The training brought Youth Leaders and government officials together in a collaborative shared space to equip them with the necessary skills to develop a youth-led action plan.
This plan aims to address the specific needs of their communities and identify key priorities. The Programme will include a series of workshops, follow-up sessions, and community engagement activities, as well as a strategic communications training targeting the municipalities’ officials to enhance their capacities in engaging effectively with youth, supporting and promoting trust-building, transparency, and accountability.
