General Information
The Art Centre has 3 divisions. 1- The 1st generation wool weavers: directed by Mrs. Sophie habib Georgi the wife of Ramses Wissa Wassef the founder. 2- The 2nd generation wool weavers and the stoneware ceramic, directed by: Mrs. Suzanne Wissa Wassef. 3- The Batik and fine cotton weaving is directed by Mrs: Yoanna Wissa Wassef. 4- Mr. Ikram Nosshi is an architect and the business director of the art centre, responsible for organizing local and international tapestry exhibitions of the centre. The centre is self sustained from the revenue of tapestry and ceramic sales. Since its foundation in 1952, the Ramses Wissa Wassef Art Centre is the home of a unique experiment in creative tapestry weaving that has produced extraordinary works admired and collected by museums and galleries around the world
Mission and Objectives

"Human freedom never has as much meaning and value as when it allows the creative power of the child to come into action. All children are endowed with a creative power which includes an astonishing variety of potentialities. This power is necessary for the child to build up his own existence."
In this brief statement, the late Ramses Wissa Wassef eloquently sums up what was for him and still is today at the heart of his unique artistic experiment.

Main Projects / Activities

Besides its activities in teaching young children and developing their artistic and creative skills in tapestry, ceramics and batiks, the Wissa Wassef Arts Centre presents and sells the art works of its artists. It has taken part in several exhibitions worldwide.
