Foundation for Visual Arts aims at the promotion of international circulation of visual arts, including photography, in Europe, development of the network of cultural operators, artists and media devoted to visual arts, and creation of a truly multinational partnerships. We are also working for promotion of intercultural dialogue in the field of visual arts.
The mission of the Foundation covers:
- Extensive promotion of photography as a field of contemporary art (including showing it a new, interdisciplinary perspective);
- Improving cultural and aesthetic skills of society through the presentation of works by prominent artists;
- Promotion of culture and broadening access to it (;
- Animation of broad cooperation between cultural institutions in Europe and beyond;
- Promotion of Polish photography and Krakow as one of the leading cultural centers in CEE;
The aims of the Foundation are carried out mainly through organizing Photomonth in Krakow - one of the leading European photography festivals and one of the largest ongoing cultural events in Poland, and through preparing exhibitions displayed in our gallery Zpaf i S-ka in Krakow, Poland. In May 2010 the 8th edition of the festival will take place, including over 30 individual and collective exhibitions presented in the best galleries, museums, and post-industrial spaces in Krakow. Foundation for Visual Arts is also active in publishing market – we publish albums and books about Polish and European visual arts scene. The Foundation is actively cooperating with over 40 cultural institutions and galleries from Europe and USA, and participate in and present its achievements at international art fairs and festivals: Art Forum Berlin, PhotoEspana, Edinburgh Art FestiVal, Les Rencontres D’Arles Photographie, PhotoLondon, Art Basel, Paris Photo, London Art Fair, Venice Biennale, Month of Photography in Bratislava.
