General Information
The Regional Council for the Unrecognized Arab Villages in the Negev (RCUV) is a grassroot civil society organization and a democratically elected body, chosen to represent the Bedouin community of the of the unrecognized villages. There are 120,000 people living in 45 unrecognized villages in the Negev. This population has been denied representation in the local authorities, through the policies of non-recognition. The primary goal of the RCUV is governmental recognition of the Arab Bedouin (governmentally unrecognized) villages in the Negev. In addition, the RCUV's mission is to lobby for services for the unrecognized villages - Education, public transportation, water supply, healthcare and democratic representation. The RCUV initiates and implements development programs; lobbies for civil rights; advocate for the needs of its constituency.
Mission and Objectives

Main Projects / Activities

The Arab Bedouin communities in the south of Israel are lacking in many services, including basic services such as water supply, education and health services. The unrecognized villages are part of the Negev community and are neighboring communities to Jewish villages, towns and cities.
We promote community building Joint Arab and Jewish communities, of the unrecognized villages. That way to provide necessary services for the unrecognized villages and providing public lobbying for the issues of the unrecognized villages with their neighbors.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

RCUV is a unique organization as a grassroot civil society organization and a democratically elected body that represent the poorest, most neglected community in Israel – of the Arab residents of the unrecognized villages. RCUV is a unique combination of a representative organization, a communal organization a highly influential organization in Israel. SO RCUV is part of the civil society in Israel, in contact with numerous organizations and promoting the diar needs if the residents of the unrecognized villages.
