Résumé

Awet Tesfaiesus is Germany's first black member of the Bundestag. As a lawyer, she has long been involved in refugee work, equal opportunities and anti-discrimination. In an interview with Mehret Haile-Mariam, she explains to what extent questions of identity and belonging influence her political work and what has changed for the Black community in Germany over the past 20 years. Based on her own experiences ond observations of the German society she calls for more seats for POC at the decision makers’s table in the centres of power.
