- Arts
Artellewa maintains as its core principle the social impact of art. We understand art as dialogue, rather than as an isolated activity aimed at production. Therefore, Artellewa curates exhibitions and events that are concerned with the local environment and local issues, and brings artists-in-residence from abroad to work on projects that engage with the community. It is an art center around which a creative community is built, including Egyptian and foreign artists.
Artellewa realizes the people of Ard El Lewa as a new audience for local, regional, and foreign artists. Artellewa provides the people of Ard El Lewa with the opportunity to participate in art, and connects this informal area to Cairene cultural life by hosting public events. Artellewa provides a unique opportunity for foreign artists to interact with the community and environment of Ard El Lewa through artist residencies.
