Development and divulgation of Latin-American and Mediterranean History and Culture, promotion of patrimony’s studies and the dialogue between the Mediterranean and Atlantic cultures
Since 1995 we organize, every year, internationals meetings about the identity of the Iberian and Latin-American history and culture.
Since 1998 we have an agreement with two public universities that allowed us to offer post-graduations in Local and Regional Studies.
Since 2002 we are partners, with the Ministers of Education and Science, in a Latin-American project to promotion the historical and cultural identity.
Our headquarters are in Manuel Teixeira Gomes’s house the algarvian President who lived and died in Bejai (1925-1941). So, we are presenting a project to the municipality of Portimão to increase the Mediterranean studies and the relations between cities from bolt edges, mainly morocco and Algerian cities.

As a Non for Profit Cultural Association, JACC has a Board of Directors (11 in total) which conducts the affairs of the Association during 3 year terms.
In 2020, JACC will have 3 full time emplyees and 2 other with close work ties (although not with a work contract like the first three). It also will receive two internships (in partnership with the National Institute for Emplyment).
From an overall budget of nearly 400.000,00€, 70.000,00€ are state support (from the General Directorate for the Arts) and 60.000,00€ from the Municipality of Coimbra.
In 2020 will produce 4 festivals, mantain three editorial projects (JACC Records, Cena Jovem Jazz.pt and jazz.pt), manage a independent cultural centre that hosts more than 100 events per year and support the creative activity of more than 60 artists.
Our Educational Service will promote about 50 activities, including the Coimbra's Historic Centre Digital Archive and the programmes connected with the UNESCO Club, dedicated to community involvement, democracy and civic participation and the promotion of Humam Rights.
These our some of our main projects:
(1) Sons da Cidade (multidisciplinary Festival organized with the University of Coimbra and the Municipality of Coimbra);
(2) Jazz ao Centro Festival (18th edition in October 2020);
(3) jazz.pt (online magazine dedicated to Jazz and Improvised Music);
4) Salão Brazil (concert venue located in Coimbra);
5) Coimbra's Historic Centre Digital Archive ;
6) XJazz (Arts in the Schist Villages);
7) Dar a Ouvir (Festival dedicated to sound arts and ecology);
8) UNESCO Club Coimbra: Art, Heritage and Community;
9) Educational Service: audience development, artistic creation and support.
In the last few years we have been making an effort to joint platforms and networks (more or less formal) with the main objective to share experiences and good practices.
That willingness to move forward collectivelly and to learn from partners in similar conditions has brought good results and has helped to sustain processes of transformation to our structure.
We are now capable of contributing with a rich experience in the artistic domain and to collaborate in meaninfull projects that build bridges between teh arts and larger themes connected with civic participation and human rights.
We identified that ALF network brings together actors questioning the same things as us and we really feel the necessity of being in contact with other organizations that can help us connect the dots of our multiple interests in the arts as an instrument of social transformation.

Jimdandy Unipessoal Lda. was created in 2015 with the purpose of creating a Tourism more sustainable and involving the local community instead of put a side the traditional commerce and the person that leave in the city. At the moment our company has 5 employees, each one is responsible to work with the community and promote cultural events like cinema festival (DocLisboa) and theater (Companhia Teatro de Almada). I work with teenagers and young adults in the educational and professional counselling area. I will be forming my association soon together with a psychologist and a wider team of 9 people (which will include teenagers and young adults) design projects for teens in vulnerable communities (minorities, migrants and economically challenged teens). My goal is to empower these communities through education and creating access to better job opportunities. As for funding, we will be applying to national and international programmes which match our projects’ goals. The modalities of action will be projects which focus on the acquisition of formal competencies and work on hard and soft skills and tools which promote them academically and professionally (CVs, motivational letters, interview skills); we also plan to organize workshops which focus on hard and soft skills that enhance their professional profile. Lastly, youth exchange and internship opportunities are very much in our plan of action.
To empower teenagers and young people through education and access to better job opportunities and according to their vocation.
My objectives for teenagers and young adults are:
The network provides some of the programmes that constitute opportunities for academic and personal development for the communities I work with, allowing for intercultural dialogue that benefits them. I can also find synergies between my work and other fellow associations and create programmes together which include this academic and professional counselling area where it is needed to promote a better quality of life and social integration for these vulnerable communities.
Because I fully identify with the Foundation's principles and most of my work is starting (and will continue to be) with teenagers and young adults from vulnerable communities (migrants, low income families...).
