Ishtar association's general goals:
- Develop the richness of Mediterranean civilizations (Arab and Moslem civilization, civilizations of the old East, European civilization)
- Contribute to the dialogue of civilizations;
- Contribute to the dialogue of the religions and spiritualities (more particularly between Islam and Latin and orthodox Christians);
- Take part in the emergence of an education relating to the environment from the intercultural and transcultural point of view
- Contribute to the promotion of cultural diversity
Our association's principal mission is to build a true space of formation, pedagogy and exchanges of ideas. It is not only a question to call for dialogue of the cultures, still it is necessary to give the tools to think. The philosophy of action in which we register these objectives rests on three complementary approaches which are the transdisciplinarity (with the direction given in this term by Edgar Morin), the systemic approach and the multi-referential approach.
Ishtar's Program for 2007:
- Courses and seminars of Arab and Moslem civilizations with an opening to Mediterranean civilizations
- Courses and seminars of European civilization and a seminar devoted to the cultural questions in the Arab world
- Edition of the Ishtar review, re-examined transdisciplinary annual, opened with multiple collaborations of the banks north and south of the Mediterranean. (Topic of the first number: The Arab East, between the roots of passed and the roots of the future)
A program set of themes of research/action: cultural diversity, education relating to the environment and durable development from a Mediterranean point of view.
