General Information
Created in 1950 by Pablo Casals, some of the most famous performers came from the whole world to Prades, to play with the celebrated cellist and they drew music lovers to this astonishing yearly rendezvous. Since that date, a new edition of the Festival takes place every year in accordance with the legacy bequeathed to us by Casals. Interpretation The Prades Festival is essentially a rendezvous of major musicians. They are artists-in-residence in Prades during the Festival and they strive to achieve high quality performances, they share a pleasure of playing music in front of an audience of connoisseurs but also of non-initiated listeners charmed by the quality and special mood of the concerts. Programs In line with the will of its founder, the Festival favours the major repertoire of chamber music but remains open to contemporary chamber music and works of young composers. It thus highlights contemporary music and promotes young talents to larger audiences. An inventive and wide open programming is kept constantly during the whole length of the Festival.
