Non-Governmental, non- profit Organisation (NGO) according to the Italian law, issued on 1973 from the Community of Sant'Egidio (1968), free association of lay men and women who, moved by their Christian faith, lead lives of solidarity with the poorest and those injured by life. The Community of Sant’Egidio counts at present 70,000 members around the world in 50 countries. They are all volunteers. A great part of the activities with the poor is self financed, also through a network of solidarity between the Communities that live in richer countries and those who are active in the poorest parts of the world. The Community also systematically organizes the collection of goods such as drugs, food, clothes. Important projects are financed by individuals or entities always by means of voluntary contribution. The initiatives of solidarity and the humanitarian actions are characterized by an extreme flexibility and they have undergone substantial evolutions during the years.
Mission and Objectives

Mission: implementation of the humanitarian activities of the Community of Sant'Egidio.
Friendship among people of different nations and cultures is the everyday way to express this international fraternity. In a world which, at the end of the second millennium is raising barriers and emphasising national and cultural differences so much that they become the cause of old and new conflicts, the communities of Sant'Egidio testify to the existence of a common destiny not only for Christians, but for everybody. All the services of the Community of Sant’Egidio are services to reconciliation and peace. Thus the emphasise on peace that is common to all the services of the Community. “Nobody is ever so poor not to be able to help another”: this principle inspires great part of the humanitarian work of the Community of Sant'Egidio, that promotes a culture of solidarity wherever it operates.

* ecumenical and interfaith dialogue. Since 1987 Sant'Egidio has been committed both at the grass-roots and the international level to arrange annual meetings, conferences and prayer gatherings, in the "Spirit of Assisi".

General Information
Lilith cooperative was founded on 1984 by nine women with different walks of life. Original aim of the cooperative has been studying and promoting reading mainly of female writers and their thinking. So that Lilith is also an independent bookshop with 15.000 titles of any publishing house. In this way Lilith bookshop has any kind of writers including new and unknown authors. The bookshop is the tool of Lilith cooperative that manages it by volunteer activities of the members. Cooperative members professionalise in reading promoting due to own experiences, their relationship with both writers groups and school world. In the last three years the happening “La città che legge. Mediterraneo: navigare fra le letterature” has been organised by Lilith. It regards the promotion of Mediterranean writers in the schools. The happening is the last step of a work that lasts the whole scholastic year. Students read and analyse books of writers that are going to meet on the final happening. Each year Lilith presents to the schools a particular Mediterranean region with its writers.

Promoting reading among young people by the study of books written by authors of Mediterranean countries.

Main Projects / Activities

Promoting of reading by: implementation and improvement of refresher courses about publishing for children; implementation and improvement of reading laboratories regarding the education to the difference; implementation and improvement of initiatives of reading in particular for students and youth.

Mission and Objectives

The Italian Co-ordination of Local Authorities for Peace and Human Rights is an association, which unites around 700 Municipalities, Provinces and Regions working in promoting peace, human rights, solidarity and international cooperation.
Its aims are:
1. to promote a permanent work of Local Authorities and of Regions for peace, solidarity and international cooperation;
2. to promote the national co-ordination, the development of common initiatives, the exchange of information and experiences among its members;
3. to assure a connection with the main European and international associations of Local Authorities, and to favour the participation of Italian Local Authorities in international conferences;
4. to favour the collaboration between Local Authorities, Regions and civil society’s associations that are working on the promotion of peace, development and human rights;
5. to promote among the people -and in particular among youth - the development of culture and attitudes of peace and solidarity.

Main Projects / Activities

Since its foundation, the Italian Coordination of Local Authorities for Peace and Human Rights has tried to achieve its goals through continuous proposals and projects of peace. Among its principal activities there are: the promotion of permanent education to peace and human rights in schools, the development of international solidarity and of decentralized cooperation against poverty and war in Africa and for the achievement of the MDGs, the promotion of the cities’ diplomacy, the organization of the Perugia-Assisi Peace March and of the Assemblies of Peoples’ UN, the engagement for peace in Middle East and Mediterranean, the construction of a Europe as a tool of peace and justice in the world, the promotion of information and communication of peace.
The Coordination promotes and sustains the Italian Peace Roundtable, that represents a precious permanent centre of dialogue and collaboration among civil society organizations and local institutions engaged in promoting peace.

COOSS Marche is non profit making company, established on 1979 and provides social and care services to the weakest segment of population: minorities , migrants, drug addicted, disabled, mental impaired, elderly, etc. Since 1993 a Department of Research and Training is actively working at European and national level to carry our social researches and to implement Vocational Educational Training (VET) initiatives. It is a training agency, registered and licensed by the Marche Regional Public Administration. Actually are more than 1700 people working within COOSS Marche group structures. The last budget was about 37.000.000 € per year.
Mission and Objectives

Cooss Marche is a social cooperative, and has the interest of the community to promote human and social integration of citizens.
Cooss Marche works in the field of social services, providing social services, health and education, mainly in agreement with the government.
The activities of the cooperative are fleshed out in the design, delivery, management and evaluation of social interventions. The provision and management of services by the COOSS Marche occurs both in the form of direct management of facilities and through local services, educational and home.
The principles upon which the activity of COOSS Marche is based are those of fairness, democracy, equality and mutuality. Marche COOSS also draws upon the values of cooperation and improvement of the economic, social and professional resources of its members.

Cooss Marche main activities are :
1) Services - In particular COOSS Marche delivers services as:
- Home care and protection;
- Education;
- Management of residential facilities, residential and semi-diurnal;
- Health.
2) Research and Development. Since 1993, was created within Cooss Marche the Research and Training Department that is responsible to design and implement local, national and European initiatives , with the objective to develop and test innovative interventions to address emerging social needs.

1. Scirokku is a not-for profit association, whose activities rest on the commitment of a wide basin of volunteer active members. 2. The association proudly overall finances its activities relying on self-financing initiatives, amounting to approximately 10.000 Euros a year. 3. Mostly self-financing, but it also receives funds from Italian local authorities (i.e. municipality of Palermo and the Region Sicily) on a project basis. 4. Organization of cultural festivals, public meetings, sport competitions and solidarity actions. 5. The organization ‘s.p.a.r.o.’ as well as other Italian organizations such as ‘Laboratorio Zen Insieme’, both based in Palermo.
Mission and Objectives

Scirokku is committed to the construction of a democratic society based on the values of social justice and freedom from oppression. It works for the respect, promotion and advancement of social rights for all, focusing peculiarly on citizenship rights (such as the right to proper housing).
It is strongly committed to struggling against mafia in Sicily through the promotion of solidarity activities involving marginalized sectors of the society.
Finally, it is involved in the promotion of awareness-raising activities aiming to safeguard the environment.

Main Projects / Activities

‘Voices from the south’: it is a Euro-Mediterranean festival of arts (music, theatre, circus) dedicated to migrants’ rights and to fighting against social exclusion;
"Once upon a time there was Palermo”: it is a festival of arts taking place in the historical centre of Palermo and in other marginalized neighbourhoods of the city;
“A kick to racism”: it is a football championship in which the teams of the Italian neighbourhoods of Palermo play together with those composed of second generation migrants;
“Scirock Fest”: a summer music festival providing cultural and recreational activities as well as resources for the association’s own self-financing;
‘Anti-racist Mediterranean’ (under preparation): a festival jointly organized in Palermo by Italian and migrant communities;
solidarity activities with Palestinian women and children.

General Information
Defence for Children (DCI) is worldwide network with national sections and associated members in over 40 countries in the world. DCI’s International Secretariat, located in Geneva, is the focal point of the movement and provides an invaluable link between DCI’s national sections and the United Nations. Defence for Children Italy is the Italian branch of Defence for Children International movement. It is an independent, autonomous, nonprofit, voluntary organisation based in Rome, established in 2007 by a group of people with various qualifications and of different ages who are all committed to the promotion of the rights of the child and to social, national and international cooperation. The National Assembly counts on 11 and the Board of Director is composed of 6 members. The organisation can count on 1 coordination person and 7 volunteers. The budgetary resources available in 2008: total income 4055,00 euro. Sources of funding: in this start-up phase DCI Italy can count on its associates memberships and private donations, but it is trying to develop a project funding strategy at national and European level. DCI Italy concentrates its activity in the organization of action campaigns which include analysis and research; information, sensitization and training; speak out against violations; promotion of concrete proposals; development of pilot projects. Other than to support and cooperate with the international activities of the movement, the Italian section is consolidating the basis for a consistent action in the national context and is developing a programme of initiatives in the following fields: • Minors in conflict with the law • Marketing and children rights • Migration and children rights At European level, we are reinforcing the collaboration with other DCI sections, in particular with the Duch, the Belgium and the Albanian branch, in order to exchange information, policies and best practices and to draft projects to be submitted for funding to the EU commission. We are strictly cooperating with the Palestinian Section to support their lobby and advocacy activities. At national level, we are collaborating with Megachip and Baby Consumers for consultations on research on marketing to children, and with UNICEF Italy and Arciragazzi in relation to juvenile justice and migration issues.

Our Mission: DCI is dedicated to ensuring on-going, practical, systematic and concerted international action directed towards promoting and protecting the rights of the child, as articulated in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, its optional protocols and all  other human rights instruments.
Our Vision: Children should enjoy and exercise their rights in a just and responsible society.
Institutional Objectives
 
ADVOCACY
·To advocate for children's rights so as to achieve the acknowledgement of children as equal subjects before the law, within the framework of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, its optional protocols, and all other human rights instruments;
·To develop national and international strategies for interpellation and public denunciation of the infringements on the individual and collective rights of children.
 
AWARENESS-RAISING
·To foster awareness about, and solidarity towards the rights of children, children's rights initiatives, situations and issues throughout the world;
·To create forms of massive social and educational communication which promote debate and raise awareness among the public regarding the realities of childhood and adolescence, helping to generate public opinion.
 
PROMOTION
·To seek, promote and implement the most effective means of securing the protection of children’s rights in concrete situations, from both a preventive and curative standpoint.
 
ACTION
·To implement projects and actions destined to protect the rights of children directly and effectively, specifically in those problematic areas not safeguarded by other organizations.
·To carry out follow-up activities to inspect the design and implementation of policies, laws and other provisions related to childhood.
·To guarantee that in the event that a child’s rights are threatened, restricted or violated, the affected child will have easy and immediate access to optimal mechanisms of protection, defence and safekeeping.
PARTICIPATION
·To promote spaces in which children have the opportunity to act as protagonists in societies and communities, to participate in decision making processes which involve them, as well as to create decent lives for themselves.
 
DEVELOPMENT PERSPECTIVE
·To approach the rights of children and adolescents from a development perspective, which implies different levels of action: political, social, community and family-based and in collaboration with all stakeholders in the development of the child.
·To provide an institutional point of reference for local, national and international efforts oriented toward promoting, protecting, defending and developing the rights of all children, by influencing national and international legislation.

Main Projects / Activities

The Italian section has joined the international campaign “No kids behind bars” promoted at global level by the international network and coordinated by DCI Nederland and is, in this framework, carrying on research, information and networking activities in the Italian territory. It has also cooperated with the Dutch section regarding translations of legal papers for judicial proceedings in cases of serious violations of children’s rights.
In Italy Defence for Children International has participated in 2008 at the establishment and is a member of the Board of the National Institute for the Rights of the Child (INDIMI) founded by Prof. Luigi Citarella, the Italian Member of the Committee on the Rights of the Child. Along with Indimi, UNICEF, Arciragazzi, Save the Children it is promoting in Italy the campaign to abolish corporal punishment on children launched by the Council of Europe.
It is collaborating with UNICEF on the working table on the Italian legislation on migration in order to analyse and advocate for the protection of children rights.
As far as training on children rights in 2008 we participated as speakers at seminars and conferences (in particular University of Rome Tre, University of Bologna, University Pontificia Salesiana).

The department's mission is to teach applied economics at undergraduate , master and PhD levels as well as conducting emipirical and theotrical researches on socio-economic issues , using innovating instuments at both national and international levels aiming at the development of pooer regional areas of the world .

Our main activity consists in conducting research and teaching programes . It most distinguished feature in the conduction of researches of both empirical and theoretical nature , general and speculative , making use of innovative methodologies and aiming at the maximum visibility on both the international and national panorama.
Our department has got priviliged channels for inhacing the international relations such as our PhD program , the "Adam Smith Network " Political Economy program and researches financed by the EC .

Mission and Objectives

Our mission is to promote dialogue and exchanges between these two countries, particularly between the two cities of Naples and Tunis, with particular attention to the genders’ viewpoint.
Tunisia has been for a long time a meeting point for different groups and nationalities, Europeans, Arabs, Jewish and Africans. Naples is considered as a point of reference in the Mediterranean, it helps dialogue and peace among different cultures.
The previous mayor of Naples, Maurizio Valenzi, comes from the large and active Italian colony that had been present in Tunisia since the XIX century. These connections have lasted despite the dispersion of the Italian community after the independence. This initiative starts in Naples also for this reason.

Main Projects / Activities

Tunisian production of a cinema exhibition in Naples at the Cinema Astra, Via Mezzocannone, from the 24th to the 28th of may 2008;
twinning between the boards of the lawyers Associations of Naples and Tunis about family and emigration; legislation researches, publications and congresses about sociological, juridical and historical features of Italian presence in Tunisia.
