Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

I  think that through this activity can also share the experience of many practitioners from NGOs, which will greatly help me to formulate humanitarian actions in the future. because, I besides routine as Ph. D students are also involved in various humanitarian projects on issues such as human trafficking and migrant workers, refugees including children and elderly issues.
I realize that the humanitarian issues in the context of Southeast africa is not to stop for discussion and thought, and when we work in the setting of human services essential to do is to build a network with the widest possible range of organizations and systems from various source areas for only that way we can support each other. in this activity I will meet with a variety of master's and Ph.D. students from different countries of course have different expertise and have a very good experience for me to develop a network for the service of humanity.

Our association is called Aceel association for Arts and culture. It is founded recently in August 2013 in Al Hancha City,a small village dependent to the governorate of Sfax in the South of Tunisia, which is deprived from cultural act. It aims at creating and promoting a cultural environment in the rural areas which are marginalized and excluded from artistic and cultural acts and events. The association works on organizing projects targeted on people of all ages; children, students, men, women… The number of stuff employed in our association is 9 and we are partnered with the house of culture in Al Hancha city and the ministry of culture in Tunisia where we receive grants and logistic help from them. For funding, we are relying on the memberships and an American NGO called Legacy International that funded us a small project. Actually, we are looking for other opportunities of funding from other sources. We have so far organized projects and founded a music club. Among these projects we can mention exhibition, music and theater clubs, workshops about plastic arts and sculpture. Now, we are working on project of spreading the culture of cinema in the rural areas by screening movies in the public places and at schools after getting permission from the regional commissary of education. We are applying for you to be part of the ALF network and to boost our chances of working with other associations worldwide and to expand to other sources of funding.
Mission and Objectives

In Tunisia, the cultural status needs to be developed and reviewed especially in the rural areas that have been marginalized and deprived from their rights for decades including the cultural rights. Creating and promoting a cultural environment is not only the responsibility of the government but also the civil society. In this context, we founded our association out of our strong belief that promoting culture and arts, as the right of every citizen,is very important for national development and for creating aware. So our main objectives are: - Activating the role of culture in promoting the society and in making change. - Creating a cultural environment in the marginalized rural areas. - Developing the personality and knowledge of the participants and introducing to other cultures, civilizations, ideas of other peoples through the cinema. - Spreading the principle of citizenship and human rights by projecting videos and short films regarding this culture. - Helping in implementing the charter of human rights concerning the cultural rights as the rights of the third generation and therefore giving the chance to the citizens in the marginalized rural areas to enjoy their cultural rights - Giving a chance for the youths to promote their rights in creation. - Entertainment

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

Our association is very interested to be part of the Anna Lindh Foundation network, such a well known international organization that aims to bring people together and promote intercultural dialogue. It works on different issues including the vision of our association which is promoting t culture and arts to create a sound and open society. ALF works on building capacity of young activists worldwide and developing leadership skills for the purpose of promoting the culture of peace and dialogue between cultures. The Anna Lindh Foundation facilitates and supports the action of civil society of the Euro-Mediterranean Region in priority fields which affects the capacity for individuals and groups to share values and live together. The Foundation’s program is focused on activities in fields which are essential for human and social dialogue: Education and Youth; Culture and Arts; Peace and Co-existence; Values, Religion and Spirituality; Cities and Migration; Media. We are so eager to join the ALF network because it would be very advantageous and beneficial to have access to all the ANF programs and projects and to have the possibility to participate in exchange programs and learning from other young activists and leaders worldwide. It would be an excellent opportunity to open up horizons to introduce to other young leaders and activists working on different issues especially the issues related to culture and arts. Our membership within the ALF network is an excellent opportunity to share ideas, experiences and expertise and to strengthen mutual understanding of our countries. It is also an opportunity to make connections as it is a chance to present our past and future projects and contribution to society and to discuss about them to look for a possibility of future cooperation with some young activists. This program would also be a sort of cultural exchange as I will have the chance to participate in certain programs organized by ALF to build bridges of understanding between our different cultures, develop the intercultural dialogue and move beyond stereotypes. Our association has already participated in one of the ALF programs which is Dawrak program. We took part in Arts for social Change program that took place in Amman in March 2014 and it has been so fruitful and beneficial for the career of our association. Our participation has open us the door to know other talented artists in the Arab region and we have already embarked on a project with some young artists in Lebanon, Palestine and Egypt. So being part of the ALF network would open up more horizons to move on and to develop our association through interaction with other worldwide associations and young activists.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

The purpose of this network is to create a global village and to share the universal values through the civil society actors. Our membership in the ALF network would be beneficial to our association and to the community we work in by putting into practice what we learn by participating in all the projects and programs of the ALF related to our vision and creating a network that combines activists from different countries to work together and to interact with each other. Our association will adopt the philosophy of the network that aims at creating intercultural dialogue and fostering the civil society by being updated to all conferences and programs of the network and implementing some of its projects in our country, by putting into practice what we have learnt from our participation in some of the foundation programs and by transferring knowledge to other activists in my country.

  6. Youth and education
General Information
Morashtenu “Our Heritage”: the Charter for Democracy was established in 2006 when a group of new immigrants from the Former Soviet Union and veteran Israelis joined forces to combat discrimination and prejudice against different ethnicities and cultures. Among our founders and board members you will find: David Grossman, Professor Galia Golan, former MK's Mossi Raz, Nino Abesadze; Dr. Dina Zisserman, Dr. Yulia Zemlinskaya, and senior journalist Lily Galili. Our main funders: New Israel Fund, EU Partnership for Peace, Levi Lassen Foundation and the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation. Morashtenu is staffed and managed by Russian speaking Israelis; we understand the needs of our community and are best able to work with it in an impactful way.
Mission and Objectives

Our mission is to promote democracy, pluralism, and tolerance within the RSC and between our community and other sectors of Israeli society. We are the only organization in the RSC focusing on these goals. We provide a voice for, and access to, our community for other organizations, bridging obstacles of language and culture. We have taken on a mediating function, enabling integration, advancement of rights and encouraging participation. Most organizations focus on one topic and reach out to a variety of people; we focus on one group and cover a variety of topics all relating to tolerance and social justice. This allows us to target specific needs in a culturally sensitive manner. In 2012 we began a pilot campaign to focus on issues of racism and prejudice in the RSC, and our efforts to this effect have begun to show.

Main Projects / Activities

We own and operate the new "un-branded" Russian news website Relevantinfo, with over 10,000 unique viewers each month. It provides a platform for open discourse. First rate journalists and bloggers participate, and we work to represent all sides. In the area of Israeli/Palestinian Relations, we conduct Public lectures in Russian, direct encounters between Russian-speaking Israelis and Russian-speaking Palestinians; field trips to the West Bank, and media address.
We provide training for Russian speaking journalists and bloggers emphasizing human rights and democratic values. By offering professional training and encounters with minority groups, we create an environment in which these journalists learn to think critically about personal prejudice, the needs of others, and how to use their skills for social change. We Monitor the Russian-language Media and produce The Annual Report on Racist expressions in the Russian-language Media for the Coalition against Racism in Israel, of which we are a leading member.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

We are the only Russian social change organization operating in Israel with the goal of addressing prejudice in the Russian speaking community. The RSC is a large and important community in Israeli society, making up 15% of the population, but thus far has remained isolated and been left out of the peace process. We have noted within the community a strong desire to learn more about Palestinians and Arab citizens of Israel, but there is a lack of access to information due to language barriers and media bias. We provide the necessary connections between the Russian speaking community and the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, as well as with other communities throughout Israel. We can help social change organizations to reach this important target audience.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

A great deal of our work focuses on bringing social change organizations to the Russian speaking community. The ALF Network will be an important asset in achieving this goal. Through establishing stronger connections with more social change organizations throughout Israel, we will be better able to form connections between social change organizations and the Russian speaking community, thus bringing the RSC out of isolation and into the peace process.

General Information
Cyins of Creativity is a youth-led, non-profit organisation, established to nurture and promote youth entrepreneurship within the creative and cultural sectors in Cyprus; as a stimulus for restoring (inter)national confidence and socio-economic prosperity. Young at heart, open-minded, interdisciplinary and experimental, we are directly engaged with our peers; devising innovative mechanisms that will allow Cypriot creative and cultural entrepreneurs, designers, makers, artists and performers, to contribute first-hand towards the creation of a self-sufficient, and globally-competitive sector infrastructure. Spearheaded by three individuals (two based in Nicosia and one based in Amsterdam), we are developing international-standard platforms that will provide those active within the industries, with the support measures and the network to evolve their creations into full-fledge enterprises, in addition to bring Cyprus more in touch with the international creative and cultural scenes. Being a new organisation (officially registered in Cyprus in June 2014), we are currently unfunded, and resolving partners to help us realise our first two projects for next year and 2016.
Mission and Objectives

This organisation has been established by young creative and cultural professionals with a passionate commitment, for making a more coherent infrastructure for their industry. Given this, our activities focus on what our peers need imminently, in addition to pragmatic endeavours that will strengthen our presence and influence at an international level.
1. Professional development and industry best practices for the creative and cultural industries in Cyprus.
2. Connecting a new generation of Greek- and Turkish-Cypriot youths through creative collaboration.
3. Advocate and promote Cypriot creative talent within wider society domestically, and as a driver to stimulate foreign interest and investment in all regards.
4. Spearhead collaboration and innovation to foster brand new, home-grown innovations, as well as present these industries as internationally-competitive, exportable human capital in their own right.

Main Projects / Activities

Our general activities will eventually involve training workshops, mentoring and business-support facilitation for young creative and cultural entrepreneurs. In order to assert a thorough understanding of the imminent support measures that our peers and these industries require, we will conduct two projects over the next two years:
2015 - Mosaic Perspectives
Held over three days in Amsterdam, this will be both a celebration of Cypriot creativity, as well as the kick-off for a series of remotely-located collaborations between Cypriot and Dutch young entrepreneurs, designers and artists. Inviting a select number of highly talented individuals from Cyprus, we will first hold a one-day festival giving the general public an opportunity to engage, experience and purchase creations directly from the visiting young entrepreneurs. This will be a mechanism for all aspects of Cyprus to participate in boosting tourism and investment interest - truly the first internationa celebration of Cyprus.
The proceeding two days will see a series of workshops and presentations in which the young Cypriots will gain firsthand insights and expertise from professionals in highly developed markets (these being the UK and the Netherlands). The closing of this three-day programme will encompass the initiation of a pairing between a creative individual from Cyprus with one from the Netherlands and/or the UK. Over the course of one year, the eventual creative works will correspond with one of the sub-themes from Pafos 2017 European Capital of Culture - “small is beautiful.”
2016 - Developing Markets Together
Distances apart, Cyprus and India have more in common than one would initially imagine. Both countries successfully retain their individual cultural heritage and ancient traditions. The local handicrafts and the narratives that they carry are still passed down from generation-to-generation. Numerous ethnic and religious groups cohabit the same environment within an atmosphere of delicate political stability, and unassumingly the mannerism of both peoples, and the pivotal role that family and community draws, just a few examples of the strong, identifiable parallels between these two countries.
Both India and Cyprus are regarded as developing markets within the creative and cultural industries. In 2016, we will collaborate with several art and design institutions (both public and private) in India, in order to facilitate another series of collaborative projects in which the industries within both countries can discuss, and then disperse learnings and results within their local environment.
Our goal is to determine methodologies and solutions that can be implemented today and tomorrow, and not in a generation’s time. Bringing topics to the table such as inclusive education; the development of tourism best practices; the widening of sustainable participation as a natural, everyday occurrence; and the cooperation between different ethnic lines.
More details about both projects can be found in the attached document.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

Leading the international activities for Cyins of Creativity, I would initially like to apply for an individual membership within the Netherlands network, since I am prodominently based in Amsterdam.
In addition to my role with Cyins of Creativity, I am also an experienced brand consultant, designer and writer, as well as the Marketing & Communications Advisor for the Indian Film Festival The Hague. With this varied professional background in toe, and with a concentration towards the creative and cultural economies, I tend to take a pragmatic, commercially-viable perspective when undertaking projects and initiatives.
In preparation of the organisational remit for Cyins of Creativity, I have attended two notable conferences within the last six months (Trans Europe Halle and Forum d'Avignon) with the goal of gaining a better understanding of the cultural-political context currently stands at a pan-European level. While there is a lot of critical discourse about the organisation and economic infrastructures of these industries at the present moment, within my personal experiences, I believe that there may be a lack of commercial aptitude in terms of how organisations like ours intend to resolve issues such as financial security for the long-term future. The availability of structural funding is becoming for competitive and less quantitative.
As a new contributor within the Dutch network, I hope to raise critical discussions about these subjects, as well as seek solutions in which our industries may be able to continuously remain strong and relevant both financially and socio-culturally.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

As an organisation in its infancy, we would very much value the expertise and support of the Anna Lindh Network (ALN) and its members, in order to help us to develop our organisation and activities.
While the focus of our work is targeted towards those active within the creative and cultural sectors, we consider that the broader spill-over effects cover wider social, cultural and commercial dimensions. The ALN's distinctive positioning of including a diverse array of the different organisations, parties and individuals, already active and successful within these areas, gives us the belief that we would be well-suited to contribute youth-led, innovative perspectives on an on-going basis, while also absorbing insights that we could apply within our own endeavours.
