Within the ALF Egyptian Intercultural Programme which aims to support local cultural initiatives and events as well as fostering synergies with institutions, mobilising the civil society and networking on a local level, the ALF Secretariat organised several events at its premises in Alexandria during the month of July.
On 31 July, the ALF Secretariat hosted at its Headquarters in Alexandria the Summer of (Sun) Screenings – Nordic Films Edition organised in collaboration with Mediterranean Design Lounge and Film My Design. The summer programme aimed to celebrate Nordic design, architecture and urban landscapes across Denmark, Finland, and Sweden, including a film screening of "Light Snatcher" (Finland, 2013) and a panel discussion with architects, researchers and artists.
Additionally, the Anna Lindh Foundation partnered as the main GREEN sponsor of the Run For Green Marathon that took place in Alexandria on 29 July and organised in partnership with Strive and Banlastic Egypt. The Marathon was conducted under the auspices of the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Tourism, the Supreme Council of Antiquities and Alexandria Governorate.
The event was part of the #COP27 and the #ALFClimateSeries campaign which takes place from June to October on the environmental and social impact of climate change in the Mediterranean region.
Further events will be organised in September including a storytelling performance organised by Banlastic Egypt, the second Coffee Talk of the EU Jeel Connect programme, a panel discussion about the role of civil society on climate change by the Egyptian Head of Network "partners for Transparency, and the "Alexandria Green initiatives Coalition Meeting" in partnership with Banlastic and Goethe Institute.
